Alitalia and Airone have now merged and although keep the 2 brands, they cooperate on flights within Italy and internationally from Milan and Rome. I used Alitalia to fly to Italy from London, and from Italy to Greece, Bulgaria, Spain and Malta. I also flew within Italy with Alitalia. Alitalia offer good rates on ... Read the complete review

Alitalia is in many ways a symbol of Italy, and, I should say, of the worst of that country, and this said from somebody like me who was born and raised there. It is a loss making venture and for many years there have been talks of the company completely folding up. It is massively overstaffed, primarily with people from Rome and the ... Despite the worries about my flight being cancelled because of the threat of Alitalia going bust, it was saved at the last minute and thank god it still ran! However, I was really disappointed with the service received. I know they are struggling for money, but there are ways of still providing a service for a lower fee (EasyJet manage ... I travelled to Sicily recently with Alitalia. I wasn`t sure what to expect as i read reports that they were constantly being bailed out from bankruptcy. Check in at Heathrow was fine- no problems there. Boarded the aircraft- quite small- but ok so far. I was looking food to a hot meal on board, but what came? A dodgy looking ... Don't travel Alitalia! Arrived at LHR to check in my baggage and the assistant was v unfriendly. After a short delay we set off for Rome and arrived there safely. Once I boarded my onward flight to Osaka, after another delay we were all told that the plane was not safe to fly. We then had to leave the aircraft, return to the departure lounge and ... First of all, I've never flown ALitalia, but your review is a good heads up to me in case I ever do. However, Mexican is not a language, but Spanish is. And also, you were on an italian airline, so they were probably speaking ITALIAN. But I wasn't there, So I don't know. Anyway, thank you for the heads up.

HORRIBLE AIRLINE> Alitalia provides no customer service. Just try to contact their customer service and you will find that they do not have a published number. They lost my luggage for two days and damaged the suitcase. I called the number that was supposed connect to their Miami airport department for lost luggage. They NEVER answer the ... Alitalia is the Italian carrier. It has been in trouble for the last years since it is not profitable. The problem is that it employs too many people who work very little. If you talk to Italian people, they will tell you that the amount of staff of Alitalia who speaks with the typical accent from Rome is huge. This is because the ... Read the complete review

I have just come back from a short break to Italy, Milan during the weekend with Alitalia. I paid 113 Pounds for a return ticket, departing Friday during the day and coming back on Sunday afternoon. I had to take ½ day off, but I was also able to hit the night in Milan on Friday night, which is a plus. I had been told by my ... Read the complete review

Despite being a regular visitor to Italy from the U.K,for some 37 years, last September 2007 was my first experience of travelling with Alitalia : London - Rome - Brindisi. (Change at Rome). I was most impressed overall. London - Rome was via Airbus,- clean & efficient. All luggage transferred without a hitch to our connecting Alitalia flight from Rome - Brindisi.... This was the best part of the trip! The aircraft was a MD 80, - must have been many years old, but it was great! This plane was 'immaculate' inside & out! The 'economy class' seating provided the most 'legroom' that I have ever had on such a flight by any airline. 'Seat-Pitch' fine. I loved the 'green & white' cabin colour-scheme! Everything was clean - & worked! Cabin-Staff, (Italian), were both efficient & polite. Will I travel Alitalia again? - Certainly if I can!

good info! I am not English but i got some experience with Alitalia and and I strongly believe that some of the Alitalia staff can be very arogant. It never happened to me to be on time with Alitalia ( 4 flights ) and indeed - Italians do not have a clear English even if they suposed to repond in English. Also they do not speak German or other EU ... I will never fly Alitalia again. They lost my luggage back in March 2006. After 6 months of repeated letters, telephone calls, messages and faxes, I am unable to get a return call from the claims department. They even failed to respond to a BBB complaint.

The joys I have had with Alitalia.(little sarcastic smile)! I used to fly Alitalia (and their partner Malev Hungarian) a lot. This was for lack of option rather than choice. One of the best airlines, i've ever flown, with. For one they actually give you free food and drink (which not many airlines do anymore). The seats have lots more legroom than other airlines, and i was flying economy. The flights were on time, both ways and the lugage came very quickly. I reccomend anyone who wants to fly to Italy to choose ... Read the complete review
