Advantages: Friendly, good food, cheap

Disadvantages: old planes, poor entertainment

I travelled with All Nippon Airways a number of times last year from London to Tokyo in economy class. I thought the service was very friendly, with fligh attendants being very attentive to your needs and helpful, and competent. The food was exquisite and plentiful, quite unlike most other cheap airlines: you get a combination of western and Japanese dishes.

The negatives are old planes (B747) and therefore uncomfortable seats and a poor inflight entertainment. There is one big screen on the front of the plan for economy class passengers showing one movie and tips on the destination and a massage video. However, JAL now flies to London with planes where economy class seats have personal videos.

I usually get cheap tickets for about £380, which make ANA very attractive - otherwise I'd think twice about flying with them.
