Advantages: Very comfortable economy class, 32kg x 2 pieces baggage allowance, Excellent service

Disadvantages: None

I flew American for the first time recently from Los Angeles, via New York to London.
I found the airline to be excellent in every respect. I am quite tall at 6'3 approx 1.90 metres and have great difficulty with seating and space of most airlines.
Virgin Atlantic for me provides by far the worst, catering, service and seating in economy class.
By contrast with American I had more than enough space to be comfortable for the flight from LA to London, the cabin staff were polite and efficient, the food better than average and the drinks, plentiful.
I fly very frequently to Brazil and have travelled there by most airlines that serve the route from Europe.
Not one airline provides everything that I would like for such a journey. Whereas some may be quite comfortable, their baggage allowance is restricted to 20kg. Others may allow 2 pieces of 32kg per piece, but the seating may be uncomfortable for people over about 1.8 metres.
American Airlines have a very generous allowance of 2 pieces of 32kg per piece, more than many airlines first class allowance, and give you a high quality of service and comfort in their economy class
and with careful booking on the internet you can enjoy at no extra cost a few days off in New York, Chicago and Miami on your way out and back.
A five star airline without question so much so that I have booked American to travel to Brazil in June and will enjoy a free stopover in Miami.

I'm 6'5" and have just enjoyed the most comfortable transatlantic economy trip I can remember - courtesy of American Airlines. Those extra couple of inches legroom sure make a big difference!!

Good op - the 'free' stop in Miami, Chicago or New York is not really free. It is purely the gateway stop and any travel agent or frequent traveller knows that a journey can be broken at the gateway on a long-haul at no extra charge - simple IATA fare rule. It has nothing to do with careful booking on the internet - it is available however you book your flight. It is not restricted to a few days either but to the maximum validity of the ticket.
