I flew AA from Brussels to Los Angeles via Chicago O'Hare. First of all, I have to say the service was GREAT on board: plenty of drinks, good food and smiling and funny staff. However! Almost EACH flight I took with AA had a serious delay. I must admit we left Brussels in time (but my mother had a one hour delay when she left a week later). ... Read the complete review

I am a frequent flyer to the U.S.A for both business and personal commitments. American Airlines will always be my first choice. Upon arriving at a UK departure point you may expect a long check in... however this is due to the fact that their security procedure is much more thorough than many other airlines which is a comfort in this day and ... This was my first time ever with AA, and since I heard they were one of the top 4 Atlantic carriers (the other 3 being Virgin Atlantic, BA and Air France) I was greatly looking forward to the trip. We were flying from Heathrow to Chicago O'Hare, and having flown from Newcastle we had a very short connection journey, resulting in us being the ... Read the complete review

American Airlines does offer more legroom (when you're 185cm and fly economy, this is very welcome). However, they have not accompanied this with any increased service. I recently flew from Brussels-Chicago (OHare), with connections to Vancouver and return. On the trip from Brussels, the plane was only half-full, which made things ... Read the complete review

I flew American for the first time recently from Los Angeles, via New York to London. I found the airline to be excellent in every respect. I am quite tall at 6'3 approx 1.90 metres and have great difficulty with seating and space of most airlines. Virgin Atlantic for me provides by far the worst, catering, service and seating in ... Well I've eventually got round to writing about American Airlines. I was going to do it last week, but with there being yet another disaster with A/A, I thought it wouldn't be the right time to do a review about them. On the 14th of October, my husband and I boarded the flight AA 55 to Chicago, with slight apprehension. As ... Read the complete review

I travelled to New York on American this summer, having used various other airlines on the transatlantic route, by comparison American Airlines turned out to be one of the best I have flown. Punctuality was excellent, arriving slightly early in both directions. In flight service was also superb, far superior to many other airlines I have ... Read the complete review

I have just arrived back from spending the summer travelling in Australia and America. While we were away we had the misfortune of flying with American Airlines from LA to New York as part of the 'one world' alliance. Try and imagine a stereotypical comedy sketch of airline crew. You know the ones where the crew sit in the Galley ... Read the complete review

They may have "more room on coach" (but not on their Boeing 777's), but American Airlines still have a long way to go to catch up on the customer service culture of other leading airlines. I was travelling to the U.S. on vacation, combining a short trip to New York with a longer visit to Fort Myers, Florida. The experience I ... Read the complete review

I have just returned from America and flew with American Airlines for the first time. I have previously flown with Virgin. When we arrived at Gatwick Airport for check-in we went through the most in-depth questioning I have ever experienced at an airport. We were asked what we had in our bags and the usual “have you packed this ... Read the complete review

My partner and I recently flew from Heathrow to Key West (via Miami) for under £400 return each (a big saving on Virgin). Being long suffering vegtarian air travellers, we've given up on asking at check-in that our meals have been ordered (the last time anyone got it right was Caledonian 8 years ago). You could have knocked me down ... Read the complete review

I flew AA from Gatwick to Dallas a few years ago now, so all the rebranding of planes and especially American's new programme of removing seats to increase legroom is beyond my comment, but I bear the changes in mind when I say that this airline is a quality one, that manages to avoid most of the problems the other US major airlines suffer. ... We really liked American Airlines the second time we flew on them. Apart from anything else, our captain was called "Captain Dangerfield". How cool was that name? In the ads, they call themselves the 51st State of America, and you really know as soon as you get into the plane. Everyone's american, the snacks are american, ... Read the complete review

From the moment I boarded my plane from London to New York to the moment when I stepped out of the plane back in Heathrow, I never felt that AA was going to be my preferred Atlantic airline. I flew in a business class and, for US airlines, the seat was quite comfortable in both size and legroom. The only negative was the aesthetic part: ... Read the complete review

I have travelled on various airline's in the past 20 years and have to say that unfortunatley my first flight with American Airlines will be my last. I flew to Boston USA from Gatwick UK last year as I was going to stay in Salem. The aircraft itself was fine with no problems but the service via the cabin crew left a lot to be critical about. ... If you can find yourself a friendly Consolidator and purchase a business class ticket to the USA there is no finer choice than American. The extra comfort and service makes the journey so worth while. You even get your own movie unit so that you can stop and start as required.....so civilized. We have just took a return trip to Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, from Gatwick. Our outbound trip was a bit unsatisfactory with very ordinary service, however our trip back to Gatwick was pretty outstanding. American airlines are quite simply the best, I was very impressed when I travelled from Manchester to Chicago. Having rather a large bottom I was pleasently surprised to find the seats designed for the larger passenger, maybe this is because american people are somewhat on the large side, never the less it was certainly a refreshing ... I joined the AA advantage airmiles programme in August 2000, and took my first American Airlines transatlantic flight in September. I fly American Airlines from Birmingham to Las Vegas via Chicago, and their customer service is excellent.
