Austrian AirlinesNewest Review: ... one Armenian working on there or at the very least a Russian speaker! I received the change to Austrian Airlines for free and now I'm reviewing it - I guess I can consider it as a 50p bonus with 2 waters, a coke and a dodgy Austrian breakfast but I would never pay the regular price for a ticket with this airline. Cramped and grumpy staff (at least in the case of this flight), a flight ... more |

Recently, I was supposed to fly from Yerevan in Armenia to Riga in Latvia but Air Baltic the company flying between the two destinations, closed the connection and they re-routed me via Vienna with the first leg of the journey being ran by Austrian Airlines. It didn't actually occur to me that this was happening until t he airport, firstly the Austrian Airlines staff at Yerevan airport were really quite helpful and their efforts can't be faulted. Whilst I waited in the new snazzy lounge at Zvartnots airport, I couldn't help but notice that the clientelle ont he plane looked a little bit classier than on a budget airline, considering I was knackered (flight ... Sadly this carrier no longer operates on the route I use most frequently, to South Africa. Their service on this route was one of the best of any competing carrier, especially their business class (two cabin configuration so their business was closer to first). The seats on the A340's all (even in economy) have a video screen, and a number of other useless (depending on point of view) gizmos. The service is excellent with attentive and friendly crews keeping the cabins neat. Good food, and generous supplies of drinks, and a good choice of reading material, made the flights go fast. Also, the timings were convenient. After a few return flights ... Read the complete review

I have taken Austrian Airlines twice. Once, many years ago, to go from Rome to Graz and back. My flight was late and lost my connecting flight in Vienna to Graz. I had to wait 8 hours at the airport and got a voucher for a meal. On the flight to Graz I was given a seat at the back of the plane that could not recline, thankyouverymuch for customer service. A more recent experience (about 8 months ago), was a business flight to Vienna from London. I fly a lot for business (unfortunately) and my standards are pretty high. My company spends a lot of money on business fares and I expect the money spent to give me the opportunity to be fresh and ready for a hard ... Read the complete review

I used this company from Austria to the UK and it is a pretty big company with them flying to almost everywhere around the world. They are kinda like British Airways basicly. I really cannot fault there service as they are very fast and efficient and we got home ontime. The only thing which lacks is that they really are so impatient, the air hostesses that is. Because it was a night flight back I was pretty tired and everything so I had my cheap plastic headphones on that they gave me to watch something (these had to be returned at the end of the flight. I slowly drifted off to sleep and must of been asleep for about half an hour when one of the hostesses came ... Read the complete review

For the last couple of years I ahve been using Vienna as a connecting airport wherever possible. It is much preferable to coneecting through Heathrow or Schipol. I have used Austrian Airlines on numerous occasions after connecting from thier partner airline Lauda. I must say they are a very good airline. Nothing fancy, no hype....just a pleasant, efficient and very understated airline. They have numerous connections throughout Europe and beyond. Although without the volume of traffic the major airlines offer, if you have flexibilty to choose your times...go for it. You may be pleasantly surprised. Price...well I've found them competitive, even cheap with ... Read the complete review
