This is a "rewards programme" which reward members with British Airways "Miles" or "Points" everytime you fly with them, or even one of their partners. Members collect miles and depending on the amount of miles obtained, you can either upgrade your cabin on your next flight with British Airways, or alternatively use those "miles" and convert them into free flights. The premise is simple: Buy a flight, wave your BA card at check-in and you're awarded free 'miles' based on your flight type. Collect enough miles and get free upgrades and free flights, plus a host of other extras at assorted approved partners. In reality things are rarely this simple. Somewhere along the line someone appears to have tied a knot in the piece of string that connects BA to the real world. Whatever method they use to collect and administer club information, this is evidently not working. BA Miles Household account is the biggest pain out. I thought it would be a good idea to merge my BA miles with my husbands so we signed up for the Household account. All was fine until I went to book tickets and then found out we can only get tickets for myself and my husband as the 2 members of the account. I didn't add the kids as they don't hold BA executive cards and there didn't seem any point in them having one either. But apparently I now can't book tickets for them. It supposedly says all this in the Rules and Regulations but those are as clear as mud. Even after having read them about 6 times it wasn't any better. ... Read the complete review

Why do very few people have good things to say about the BA Executive club ? In my personal opinion I think it was on of the best FF program going. I have had Gold status with BA for 8 years and also have, Premiere Elite with United (part of Star Alliance) and Platinum with Continental. I think BA?s Gold level is the best elite status to have. The Oneworld partnership has an excellent lounge access program with 600+ lounges around the world and once you are silver with BA you can use 90% of these when traveling on any ticket type. Once you reach gold then you can use them all even when flying on another airline. Use of Star Alliance lounges is ... Read the complete review

I begin with a general comment about airline mileage schemes : They encourage you to join, to fly with their airline, promise you the earth, and then when you actually try to redeem the miles, place many obstacles in your way to prevent your doing so. Here is my latest experience with BA. They told me when I tried to book a journey from Spain to the UK and back, using my Executive Club Miles, that they could only book for journeys beginning and ending in the UK. This was quite clearly incorrect and when I quoted them the paragraph in the conditions per their own website, they backed down and made the booking. They then gave me 24 hours to ...
