Advantages: Good quality

Disadvantages: Poor leg room in economy

I recently flew to New York with BA in club class. The annoying thing is that you can not prebook your seats until 24 hours prior to departure when you can check in and print off boarding cards from the comfort of your home.

It was the first time I have used Terminal Five and I think it is a credit to BA the terminal being open airy and user friendly. It is far superior to terminal three and four. I am a great lover of terminal five it was a shame that they opened it too early when quite clearly it was not quite ready but I believe BAA & BA are to blame for that fiasco. As damage limitation they should have pulled out of T5 until the gremlins had been sorted. The blame should have been laid at Willy Walsh who was there to take all the credit on day one of the opening but then where was he when it went pear shaped.

Easy check in nice friendly cheerful staff and then fast tracked through security straight to the business class lounge. The business class lounge was heaving as it was a mid morning flight but there is plenty of room and the facilities were great although the toilets left a bit to be desired. It amazes me that so called business class passengers can be so dirty and unhygeinic.

Club class was ok the seat I had was facing backwards which was a new experiance of flying for me and I thought it was great in fact I think I preferred sitting looking backwards. The in flight entertainment was good although just a standard size monitor. Good selection of films and music and other entertainment.

In flight catering was a big disappointment. They are trying to create a typical English menu some kind of beef stew...which was ok but certainly not fine dining at all and certainly not fine dining when served on cracked china..I was horrified on the return journey to see what fare they provided on the return leg....That will come later.

The seats were comfortable and the seat converts into a bed. There is ample leg room and sitting by the window ensures you have your own private space. There is a privacy screen should you wish to have even more privacy which was good.

There are little storage compartments available to store your shoes or laptop or other things. The inflight amenity bag was of extremely poor quality with very poor contents which I found amazing considering the price BA charges for club class.

The cabin crew were absolutely brilliant. Highly professional well trained well groomed and hard working they looked cheerful and were very considerate and friendly to all passengers. Fast and efficient boarding and disembarkation.

Again I am appalled at the way people in Business class leave their rubbish strewn all over the floor. Its absolutely slobbish and a disgrace they should be ashamed of themselves. Clear up your own rubbish you slobs.

Return flight.

Return from JFK. Night flight in fact the last flight of the day. The cabin crew were very friendly and efficient. Club class & first class passengers are given the opportunity of eating prior to boarding in a restaurant however we chose to eat on board as it takes up some flight time. Something was put down in front of me which left me agog......it was a bloody panini.........can you imagine that after waiting all day and looking forward to something to eat and all they could muster up was a panini......... Breakfast was ok nice fresh fruit good coffee and was offered a bacon roll but that never materialised. Sack the head of catering thats what I say!!!

The flight was quite short only five and a half hours but unfortunately the twit sitting in the seat in front of me kept tossing and turning which meant the foot rest part of my chair bounced round like the plane was experiancing severe turbulance. I felt like bouncing him around on the end of my foot. What a jerk....

I was a bit disappointed with the standard of business class although its certainly more comfortable than economy I do like BA.
Unfortunately I agree with some of the other reviewers here that customer care department let down BA big time.

BA can and does work out cheaper than some of the cheap no frills airlines and pound for pound you are getting a much better quality of in flight service. They generally leave on time and arrive on schedule. BA is predictable, safe and reliable and in foreign airports its always a welcoming sight to see a BA plane.

Summary: A far better option than the cheaper no frills airlines.
