Advantages: Nice clean plane, good service..and an upgrade, which is always nice !

Disadvantages: Not quite as good as Virgin Atlantic in my opinion, in flight entertainment wasn't as good as others

British Airways is the National Carrier for England and the 12th largest airline in the world ( By numbers of passengers carried annually )
I recently flew BA ( how i'll refer to them from this point on ) from London Heathrow ( its main hub ) and Newark New Jersey, I am also an executive club member which quite frankly since ive been a member im not sure exactly why as I really haven't had any benefits as far as I can see, or maybe I have as when I went online with BA on their website to check in ( something you can do 24 hours before departure ) you normally have the option of selecting your seats, but when I went on there I saw that my seat selection was already made and I couldn't alter it, being a little irritated by this but not overly concerned we made our way to the Airport, upon arrival at the airport we were informed that we had been upgraded to World Traveller Plus which is their Premium Economy class, which sits above economy but behind Business class in terms of service, comfort and even seating on the plane.

Quite frankly for most travellers this would be more than adequate as I had a wonderful seat with plenty of legroom ( i'm 6'2' so legroom is a big concern for me ), the food they serve is the same as the economy class food although the service does seem to be a little more attentive then when I flew Economy last time and overall the experience was good, would I spend an average of $1000 a ticket to go from World Traveller to World Traveller plus, well I guess it depends on the deal I had on the ticket originally I guess as the service is nice, the seating is great and you do feel a cut above the rest, but apart from a slightly different cabin and extra legroom there really isn't anything to set it apart from Economy.

The plane was comfy and the inflight entertainment was good, with a nice choice of movies, although I wish they'd upgrade their service and offer movies and TV "On Demand" instead of making us wait until the movie is scheduled to start to watch it, and while watching the TV I had the impression that the screen was a little smaller then I remember, and certainly smaller then the screen on the last Virgin Atlantic flight I took.

Our flight landed ahead of schedule, which was nice, when flying internationally I always try and fly BA or Virgin Atlantic as I do feel they offer a superior class of service compared to some of the other major airlines, this was no different and was a pleasant enough experience and one I wouldn't mind repeating next time I fly internationally.

Summary: One of the top contenders if you're flying internationally

I think you will find that BA are not just the national carrier for England, but for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland too. The clue there being they are called BRITISH Airways ;-)

VG review here. I used to fly with BA when I was a student and studying in London. However they were nippy with me for taking my £2k musical instruments on board with me as I didn't lke the way the baggage handlers literally chucked the cases on! In the end after much debate I flew with BM instead. Now, 3 years on however BA aren't so pernickety. Check out Pam Ann's first day as a Stewardess for B.A on You Tube -- hilarious!
