Advantages: Great understanding staff, lovely flight, luggage wasn't lost!

Disadvantages: Having to fly back with economy!

I must admit, having heard mixed reviews of British Airways I was slightly apprehensive with booking with them, particularly when booking my honeymoon flights to New York for January 2009. We were flying Manchester to New York, with a transfer at Gatwick. As me and my husband are not exactly frequent flyers we didn't realise how much easier it would have been to check in online. We therefore checked in the old fasioned way and were told that although we were sitting together from Manchester to Gatwick, we would be sat apart on the second flight to New York as there was no space for us to sit together. At the time I was 27 weeks pregnant (wasn't pregnant at time of booking) and for this reason, along with the fact it was our honeymoon, we asked the staff at check in if there was anything they could do. they advised us that there was nothing they could do from there, but told us they would put a note on the computer system and that we should advise the staff at Gatwick of our situation.
After a pleasant uneventul flight we arrived at Gatwick, and spoke to the staff on the transfer desk. Here we were advised that we had already been upgraded (presumably thanks to the note written in Manchester) and were now going to fly club world at no extra cost. How marvellous! The flight was amazing, as was the in-flight food and drinks (champagne cocktails!).
We arrived in New York, relieved that our luggage was also there. We found the service o British Airways staff excellent. The only disadvantage was having to fly home in economy, as we were only upgraded for the flight out, we wanted more of the high life!

Summary: Upgraded due to pregnancy and honeymoon. Excellent service
