Disadvantages: lack of leg room

I have now flown with British Airways about 15 times both long and short haul flights, so thought I?d review how I think they are doing.

British Airways fly to most destinations and are one of the world?s largest airlines. I have flown to several destinations in the States, South Africa and numerous countries in Europe. I have on the whole been very satisfied with the service I have received. Before travelling I always do my research on the Internet to check for the cheapest fares. British Airways often come out as cheapest. I also prefer to fly direct if possible and again British Airways often offer this.

Like most airlines B.A?s pricing structure is a very complicated one! I have found that if you book early you often pay a lot less. Don?t assume that a fare you are offered in one travel agent will be the same everywhere-it won?t. I once paid £189 for a fare to Washington D.C and a few days later a friend decided to join me and was quoted £50 more for the next seat!

I have always been happy with B.A check in staff both in this country and elsewhere. When there have been delays I have always been kept informed, unlike other airlines!

Once on board I have always been well cared for, especially on the few occasions I have been upgraded! The food compares well with other airlines and I have recently noticed a big improvement in what?s on offer. On a flight to Marseille recently I was given warm olive bread with melted cheese, fruit, a muffin and tea or coffee to drink. In addition there was wine on offer for those who wanted it. The meal was adequate for the short 2-hour flight.

Flight attendants have always been helpful, both when I have travelled alone and when I travel with my family. On long haul flights my children have been given activity packs, which are much appreciated.

On long haul flights the in flight entertainment has always been good and again is crucial when you have children to occupy!

think the baggage allowance is generous, both for checked in bags and cabin baggage.


However there are still improvements to be made! The leg room in economy class is far from generous and other airlines seem to score better here (virgin and Singapore airlines to name two). I hope in the future with all the publicity about D.V.T airlines will improve legroom. I suspect it will take a few compensation cases however.

So how are they doing? Very well actually and I for one will continue to fly with them! Hopefully this review will get me another upgrade!!
