Redeeming miles is very difficult (bmi British Midland Diamond Club)

Earning miles is easy, and BMI may be generous in this regard, but you need a lot of luck to redeem miles for awards. I have twice tried to book flights using my 100,000 plus accumulated miles and found that there are very few seats available in any class to any destination either in the near future or months ahead. Ringing the call centre is just frustrating. I think it must be in India. So I gave up with the idea of trying to get flights and decided to book a hotel instead. The help system on the website says you can do this online, but you have to ring up. The Diamond club people put me through to Expedia who .... put me through to Diamond Club who then said that to book a hotel could only be done after 8 a.m. on a Monday. This experience has made me want to give up being a member of the Diamond Club and I will consequently fly less often, if at all, with them.

Summary: It's impossible to get the flights you want and the telephone support is awful.
