Waste of time (bmi British Midland Diamond Club)

Disadvantages: Gold membership means nothing, poor service, can't use points for flighs, lots of taxes

BMI Diamond Club comes with many promises, however firstly if you are unfortunate enough to deal with the Indian call centre then this is a complete waste of time. I have travelled regularly with them for over 2 years and as such am a gold member (which is pretty worthless).

They often miss miles and trips, recently they have only added one leg of a two leg journey, I have called the call centre 4 times and each time I have been promised that this will be rectified and each time nothing has happened.

The call centre operators clearly don't care. Interestingly I have tried to use the miles to book a flight (which was clearly nearly empty based on a direct booking enquiry) to be told that the seats had all gone for Diamond club. I was offered a re- route which would have taken 3 flights many hours (I was enquiring on a two hour journey) a lot of points and a price (the dreaded airport taxes!) which was much more expensive than going direct on an alternative carrier.

If you are lucky enough to be allocated a flight on the miles then you are hit by a range of charges which are often more than booking direct.

Basically I feel its a absolute con offered by a fairly poor airline, there are much better loyalty schemes out there I wouldn't waste time and effort on BMI.
