British Midland or BMI British Midland as they like to call themselves now are probably the most reliable airline in Europe. For 11 years now it has been Britains best UK Domestic Airline

On a recent holiday to Portugal we boarded a British Midland jet and I was pleasantly surprised when on board. It was pretty much the same as any other airline but what was noticeable from the off was presentation. The staff presented themselves very well were courteous and polite. I dont recall any dolled up airhostess engaged in a bit of banter with a group of lager swilling lads or any thing like that. This sort of thing is much appreciated by me and my girlfriend. I noticed how the staff bonded well as a team during the flight. They were prompt with lunch and dealt with a troublesome person effectively in a nice controlled way. A man wanted to get off the plane and was getting agitated about not being allowed. One passenger shouted "give him a parachute" but the staff reassured the man and controlled the situation til the plane docked. The planes are relatively new, with a set of brochures in the seat backs. I found the food was good or maybe Id been sucked in by the presentation.


A disadvantage of the plane is the economy seating. Being a tall person means I find it difficult to relax in these type of seats. This is familiar problem with airlines one which I hope is addressed sooner rather than later by aeroplane manufacturers.

The service was very good and I would say your making a good choice if you go with British Midland.
