Advantages: Efficient, friendly, comfortable

Disadvantages: There are sometimes delays (Like every other airline)

Cathay Pacific are one of my favourite airlines. I regularly have to fly from London to the Philippines and whenever possible I fly Cathay Pacific. There are a number of reasons for this.

1. The aircraft is more comfortable than many of the competing airlines, and they generally have a better in-flight entertainment system. This is important as the journey takes in total 17 hours flying time.

2. They have some of the best airline food I have experienced. The range of food available is excellent, and it is generally well presented.

3. The airline staff are always courteous and helpful.

4. The chance to fly through Hong Kong, which is my favourite airport. It has lots of spare comfortable seats. plenty of restaurants selling a range of food, and some places with free internet access.

In the interests of fairness I should mention a problem that I had last time I flew with them. On the way out flying Heathrow to Hong Kong there was a problem with the aircraft and we were five hours late arriving in Hong Kong. This meant I missed my onward connection to Manila. What impressed me was the efficient way the airline dealt with this problem. I was allocated a space on the next flight to Manila, and my new boarding card was waiting for me as I came off the flight in Hong Kong.

I was a little upset to have another five hour delay on my return trip flying Hong Kong to Heathrow, but it may well be unfair to blame the airline for these delays.

Summary: A comfortable, friendly airline with a great entertainment system
