I agree with recent posting of the cheapness of china eastern flights. I recently travelled on the flight from london to shanghai and to melbourne..we were kidnapped practically at shanghai airport, we were supposed to go to the Ramada hotel -we had vouchers for there-for an overnight stop but ended up at the eastlands, miles from anyway, no cashpoint nearby, no restaurant in the hotel and the room dirty...I slept in the bed with all my clothes on because I felt so uncomfortable. the breakfast was chinese version, with no other choice and only awful watered soya milk to drink (no tea or coffee or juice). I went business class and the service I got equalled economy in qantas almost! For the return journey from MEL to Shanghai to london in business class, I asked for confirmation that I would not end up at the eastlands again and fortunately the return was better. Apparently, I was told that if the Ramada is overbooked then the spill over is Eastlands...even for business passengers. Don't expect, even in business class, luxurious entertainment, the film I saw was from 2001...and you're lucky if the audio channels work..the seats were broken, there were half the foot rests not working...but as the seats were broken I was able to put my feet up on them!

The return journey was like a breath of fresh air to actually end up at the ramada and with a grand choice of stuff for breakfast and a cash point dispenser in the hotel and a proper 4 star hotel!
