Advantages: On-time, New Airplanes, One-Pass
Disadvantages: Service, Food, Crew
I've been flying to states with United Airlines, Air France and recently Continental. The Continental service touched me in a way that I hat to write an opinion about it. First of all, I don't like their corporate image - compared to other airlines their design is a lot too conservative and cold. Other airlines give you the feeling that you made the good choice, in a way you feel special and you think the airline you're flying with is the best. Forget that with Continental - you feel like chickens in a huge bus. The onboard service was the worst I've ever had on any flight, including the food, which I don't consider as "food" anymore. On the flight going to the states, we had lunch immeadeately after take-off, that took about 30 mins, after that no service at all for seven hours. No snack - no drink. Just before landing we got a snack: a turkey sandwich with 1% fat and a print-on "world's best gourmet sandwich", one of the most disgusting things I've ever swallowed in my life. The crew made the impression of being really stressed serving coach class proletarians. On this trip I made three further flights with Continental, with similar experiences. What was also remarkable is the quantity of food you get, it is really few, I would say that the box in which they serve hot food is about half the size of the ones served on other airlines. Concerning the airplanes, Continental was convincing, they all seemed in a very good shape and were very clean. The seats were comfortable, and you had enough space. Everyone had its own tv screen and could choose his own (around 10) programs. The games you can play on those screens aren't a real option, they are very old and the console is complicated to use. Coninental was also perfect in shedule for every flight I took with them, they were even some minutes early on many flights. Overall I would recommend flying Contin
enal if you get a good price and don't care about service. If they had a better onboard service, it would be one of the best airlines, with the newest airplanes and good on-time connections.

- 20/05/02 I don't think I've ever tasted really good food on a plane. I'm beginning to think that it might be better for them to offer no food at all and reduce their ticket prices. I think I'd rather take aboard a picnic of my choice and look forward to a good meal at my destination! |

- 20/05/02 Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the food. But anything has got to be better than Virgin so at least you can be pleased that you weren't travelling on the worst airline of all! Good op! |
