Cyprus Turkish Airlines (KTHY)

My Wife and I went to Cyprus on holiday and our airline was Cyprus Turkish Airlines from Bristol. The ticket was purchased from a tour operator so we didn't have an initial contact with the airline staff as the ticket was purchased through an operator. Our first impressions of the check-in staff were helpful but not friendly almost hostile to me as I asked for a window seat I don't understand why people are so unpleasant sometimes it costs nothing and surly makes your day go quicker. We have just returned from our 5th visit to Northern Cyprus, again using KTHY - never again! The service has deteriorated consideraby since last year. Whilst I appreciate that all companies are trying to reduce costs and increase income in these difficult times the measures KTHY have taken are a step too far. The seat pitch has reduced to the point where getting tray tables down is very difficult and insufficient leg room makes for a very uncomfortable flight of nearly 6 hours. We have travelled with KTHY on many occasions since 1999 to Ercan and have seen the service go downhill. The latest flight we made was so full that the space betwen the seats was in my opinion dangerous. I have never seen a steward/stewardess smile and be polite, nothing can be further from reallity. The announcements made over the speaker system are often garbled, to quick and often irritating. I have yet to depart or arrive on time like the flights from Pegasus, I believe you have a serious management problem. I regularly fly to Larnaca and Ercan. I have tried Thomson, Thomas Cook, Turkish Airlines and KTHY. I have travelled from Stansted to Ercan or from Gatwick to Ercan or Larnaca with KTHY. The first time I flew with KTHY, I was shocked. Shocked because of the passengers behavior and the staff who did not try to do something. As the plane was just about to land, 1 or 2 minutes away from landing on the tarmac, a family of 4, 2 adults, children ages, maybe around 6 and 10, stood up and started walking towards the exit door. We have just returned from Ercan to Heathrow and the flight was on time and we had a good trip. I only wish that when the announcements are made that they would speak slower in English, they seem to gabble away.
We fly every 3 months and to date we have had no delays and we are quite happy with the service, ok the food is not terrific but one doesn't have to eat it, we take rolls with us so we are content. The fares are usually cheaper than most airlines so on balance I think it is value for money. We shall continue to use them unless we can find a better deal.
