Cutting Costs Means Losing Customers! (Cyprus Turkish Airlines (KTHY))

Advantages: Return flight was on time - going out delayed 5 hours!

Disadvantages: No leg room, terrible food and dangerous seats.

We have just returned from our 5th visit to Northern Cyprus, again using KTHY - never again! The service has deteriorated consideraby since last year. Whilst I appreciate that all companies are trying to reduce costs and increase income in these difficult times the measures KTHY have taken are a step too far. The seat pitch has reduced to the point where getting tray tables down is very difficult and insufficient leg room makes for a very uncomfortable flight of nearly 6 hours. The seating has changed since last year so I can only assume more rows have been put in to make more money. The breakfast meal has changed to something I simply could not identify and having trained as a chef that's pretty difficult to achieve. My husband thought we were having scrambled eggs but mine was so separated out I half filled a coffee cup with the liquid and was left with some grey protein like substance - not nice! Meals are not served as promptly meaning you can't bed down for some sleep - not that this is possible with the position you have to sit in. Both our seats were faulty so we couldn't hold them in the upright position as they constantly fell back - meaning the people behind had even less space, we kept apologising, the cabin crew told us off at take off and landings and a potential safety issue was present.
Next year we will fly to the South and taxi up - Kyrenia (Girne) is only an hour from Larnaca airport and the return transfer is about £100 plus we can get cheaper flights. Sorry KTHY you've lost our business.

Summary: Give them a wide berth and fly to the south.
