Cheap and not friendly airline I give it the thumbs down (Cyprus Turkish Airlines (KTHY))

Advantages: Cheap flight good food and coffee but nothing else to write home about

Disadvantages: Very unfriendly felt like a number not a person

My Wife and I went to Cyprus on holiday and our airline was Cyprus Turkish Airlines from Bristol.
The ticket was purchased from a tour operator so we didn't have an initial contact with the airline staff as the ticket was purchased through an operator.

Our first impressions of the check-in staff were helpful but not friendly almost hostile to me as I asked for a window seat I don't understand why people are so unpleasant sometimes it costs nothing and surly makes your day go quicker. After we had our unpleasant check in we boarded the plane.

The staff on board again were professional but not friendly we were being treated like another number on the plane and not a fellow human being. Maybe I'm asking too much but if I smile at someone its nice to be smiled back at.

The flight was only four hours and was in mostly unremarkable. The staff came around a number of times offering food and drink for sale with overly inflated prices however the coffee be it was very expensive nearly four pounds a cup tasted very good.

The food we purchased on the plane was also good but in hindsight we probably should have brought sandwiches at the airport. The aircraft was small one of the older Airbus types but clean. There wasn't enough leg space for me and I found myself swapping with my wife to sit on the isle and stretch out a bit.

In conclusion what really let me down was the lack of personal customer service the crew were very professional and made you feel safe but not welcome and that is important to me when I spend money to fly places. I couldn't put my hand on my heart and recommend this airline as other better airlines fly to all Cyprus Turkish Airline destinations I would rate the experiences as not the worst trip but far from the best.

Summary: The airline was cheap and that sprobably all that matters very unfriendly service
