Advantages: Good Value friendly staff worth booking if price is right

Disadvantages: Not great communication on this occassion

I wanted to give you a review of a Delta Flight I took from Gatwick to Seattle earlier this year. This review will concentrate on the customer service aspects and will also give a slight mention to purchasing the ticket.

Historically Delta has always been one of the cheapest airlines when travelling to Seattle so I have used them on this journey on many occasions.
Delta does not have a direct route to Seattle and on this occasion I had to transfer in Cincinnati. This is usually not a complex procedure with the staff quite happy to answer any question that you may have.
The website is easy to manage and purchasing the ticket went through without any real issues.
The flight was full and eventually I got to the front of the queue to be greeted by a slightly harassed Delta represented who quickly mellowed when smiled at, you can really blame her as she had just served the family from hell.

I asked for a window seat and the young lady obliged processed my ticket and reminded me of the gate times. This is where the story takes a turn for the worse.
For some reason on this occasion the gate was quite small too small for the 350 passengers who were all crowded into the confined area like sheep in a Penn.
It seemed to take ages for any delta staff to turn up and the departure time was looming

We didn't know at the time but the plane was going to be delayed by about five hours due to some technical fault. Now I don't mind being late I would rather be late than have some air crash and be dead so waiting I can cope with I just would like some communication from the staff at Delta even if they are lying to you it makes you feel a bit more in the know and on this occasion we knew nothing for the first two hours
I think this was probably because the young girls who were working the gate hadn't actually been told anything.

Eventually we were all seated to what were turn out to be a pretty good quality flight with reasonable food and entrainment that passes the time well, my main objection was as we were so late I would miss my connecting flight. As it turned out we all missed our connection and were put up in a hotel chain called the Red Inn it could have been the Red light inn but at least I wasn't sleeping on an airport floor.
The next day things looked up as we took off on time and eventually made it to Seattle a day late but safely none the less.

The service apart from the lack of knowledge at the time of the delay I couldn't complain every staff member seemed to make an effort and the families travelling with children had special attention with Delta staff finding blankets for young children and they all came out with some food packages for everyone.

I would travel with Delta again due to the consistent customer service I receive on my Seattle flights and I usually travel three times a year
In conclusion Delta have always shown me good customer service and a friendly face even when things go wrong worth travelling with if the price is right.

Summary: Good value airline that usually has great customer service ok food and reasonable entainment
