Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Some Hidden Charges

Easyjet is a basic no frills airline. I have flown with them quite a lot and belive that they do offer good value for money. The flights I have been on have always been on time, apart from once, they have always been clean and tidy planes, and the staff have always been friendly.

The one delay we have had was in Belfast waiting to go on holiday and we were both given a voucher for £3. I think the delay was for just over 2 hours.

I find it easy to book online, and the price you see is the price you pay. All taxes and charges are included, unlike other airlines which show a low low fare and then add the charges on later. You can choose to pay for Speedy Boarding which is £9.50, and also if you want a bag put into the hold, which is £8 for 20kgs or extra baggage weight. The extra weight is quite expensive, 3kgs is £21, 6kgs is £42, 9kgs is £63, and 12kg is £84. You can also decided to spilt this over a few bags, each extra bag is also £8. They will also carry most sports equipment for an extra £18.50. They also offer discounted hotel rooms, insurance and car hire. You can also choose to Carbon Offset your flight, a one way journey between Belfast and Spain is around £1.70 per person.

The only route I have travelled with them is Belfast to Malaga. On this route, as with most Spanish ones, you need to enter your passport details and date of birth on a different page, although it does prompt you to do this. Once these details are entered they are automatically stored for future journeys.

I never pay for Speedy Boarding as I am a nervous flier and if you mention this at check in they will give you priority boarding. This means that Sppedy boarders get called first, people with kids and anyone who is priority....so I get onboard before most other people.

Easyjet don't allocate seat numbers so it is the first people on that get the pick of the seats...this can lead to a bit of a mad rush to get onboard. The seats themselves are quite roomy and they do seem to have more legroom than other budget airlines.

As you have to pay for hold baggage most people have quite large carry on bags, and so the overhead lockers can get full quite quickly. Easyjet don't have a weight limit on carry on baggage, as long as it is within a certain size range and you can carry it yourself. The size limit is quite large, as long as it fits in the overhead locker, you can bring it on free of charge.

Once onboard the crew are very friendly and helpful. They are constantly on their feet and never seem to have a break from selling something, whether it is meals, gifts or scratchcards. They do a good range of food and drink which seem to be quite reasonably priced. They will also give you tap water free of charge. As they have such a fast turnaround the crew will come round once or twice with rubbish bags collecting all litter from you. At the minute, due to the swine flu outbreak they also collect hankies in a different bag. These must be placed in your sick bag and are collected by a crew member who has rubber gloves on and are placed in a different coloured bag to the normal rubbish.

Budget airlines can be given a bad name, but like I have said I would choose Easyjet over most other airlines. From what I have seen they are reliable, cheap and clean.

I never knew that, I know you have to be able to lift it in yourself without help.

Technically, the upper weight limit for cabin baggage is 32kg, based on the strength of the lockers, which is why it says "Within reason" on those orange baggage sizer things.
