Advantages: cheap, lots of destinations, pissants
Disadvantages: colour scheme, very basic service
okay, so I get the idea that it was a new airline and needed to stand out but boy is the colour scheme harsh on the old eyes.
I recently flew from Luton to Glasgow with easyjet and the tickets cost about £20 each, return. I dont know how they do it, it nearly costs me that much to get into london on a 20 year old train, but how they do it isnt my problem. So booking via the web is easy and convenient and the price can be ludicrously cheap as long as you book well in advance and can be a bit flexible on your travel dates.
Now onto my only complaint.. Nowhere on the online ticket that I had to print (you dont get sent anything) did it state anywhere that you had to be at the airport no later than exactly 20 mins before departure or you wouldnt get on. Guess who was 4 minutes after the deadline? Yep and they wouldnt let me on. Now my gripe inst that huge, it was mostly my own stupid fault but if it had stated on the ticket that you had to be there 20 mins before take off or no flight, I would have made extra sure we had more time (maybe that has changed since and it is made clear?). On the plus side, they put us on the next flight free off charge without any fuss and apart from a bit of damaged pride, no harm was done. I guess I have seen enough of the ITV airport show set at Luton to know the deadline, but hey it was too early for me (5am!).
As for the flight, it was fine, basic service, no free drinks or food. The flight was less than an hour to Glasgow anyway so it was no big deal. The check in staff were courteous and friendly and didnt make me feel too stupid about missing the flight and the stewards all looked the part and did their job well enough, so no complaints there. The flight back was delayed half an hour, but no big deal and again the flight was everything to be expected.
So for the price I give easyjet a big thumbs up! It is so good to see a new guy come along and give the old airlines a scare to keep them on their
toes. I would use easyjet again, would recommend to anyone as long as your not expecting luxury. Its pretty much what you would expect from a budget airline, but they appear to have got a nice balance and the service doesnt feel cheap.
