Advantages: cheap, cheerful, great booking service
Disadvantages: food a little pricey for what it was!
I have used Easyjet for five return journeys - four to Athens and one to Barcelona. On all of those occasions I have been satisfied - especially as the prices were so keen - £70.00 return to Athens (on two occasions) and £60.00 return to Barcelona. Of course you are not going to get five star service - you'll get what you pay for - a flight! However, I must add that the cabin crew were all very pleasant and friendly. By five star service I am referring to unlimited food and drinks - and you're not going to get that now are you? We only experienced one delay and that was the return flight from Barcelona, but we made such good time back that it did not really matter. The best way to tackle Easyjet is to book your flight really early on - which means you have to plan ahead. I am a teacher, so I know exactly when my holidays are going to be. This is the best way to get a good deal. Easyjet do not drop prices nearer to the time of the flight like Charter Airlines. However, you can sometimes get good deals when they have promotions - such as the recent tax free offer. Just provide Easyjet with your email address so that they can update you with an email providing you with new schedules and special offers. A word of warning - flights to places like Malaga and Palma get booked up very quickly and can sometimes work out even more expensive than charter flights - so be warned and get booking quickly. The online booking service is excellent and, unless you are really daft (or drunk) it is quite difficult to make a mistake and end up booking your return journey the wrong way around (I always worry about doing this). As soon as you have booked, print out the page. Don't wait for the email to arrive, as when I first booked it didn't and then I would have been stuck. This booking page contains your booking reference, which is, effectively, your ticket. The easily navigatable website also contains details of all
the destinations including airport bus services. They are represented in a clear and concise way. It also contains copies of the Easyjet inflight magazine which has useful information on accommodation and events on a month by month basis. When travelling to somewhere like Athens or Barcelona, go for the option at travelling at during the winter. Let's face it - you don't need (or particularly want) steaming hot weather when you are doing a city break and you can get some excellent deals during this time. We went to Athens during February and got an excellent deal. Much better than tackling the Acropolis during the smog laden, sweaty month of August! It is at these times of the year that Easyjet really comes into its own. Finally - we must be grateful to airlines like Easyjet for opening up the whole idea of travel to the great unwashed like myself! No way would somebody like me be able to afford to travel with the frequency that I do now without them. It also offers an alternative to package holidays companies who now have the brass nerve to charge for transfers from Airport to Hotels. Additionally, airlines like British Airways are now having to rethink their pricing policy - all good news both for the economy and for people like me who enjoy travel and culture but who have not got the salary to match!

- 02/08/04 Do you know - i've never managed to book a flight on easyjet for when i wanted. They don't sound too bad for the short flights but i need a little bit more comfort for the long ones. |

- 29/06/03 Hurrah for such a great Easyjet review. I'm boarding an Easyjet flight myself in a matter of hours (my first Easyjet one) and I've heard horrible stories about them. :o)
You've certainly brightened up my afternoon! :o) |
