Advantages: CHEAP!
Disadvantages: You could say no food....... but THAT'S THE POINT!
The air-line trend of the late 90's and early 2000. The trend of slicing prices! A true victory for the consumer. Or is it? Well, in the case of Easyjet it's a resounding YES! The Orange wonders have the likes of British Airways scampering off to start their own budget air-line "Go" and since their launch, Buzz and Ryanair have also got in on the act. I got my ticket to from Luton to Nice, on-line for £39. Yes, there was the 'hidden' cost of airport tax, but it's not really a hidden cost, even Business Class passengers on Emirate Airlines have to pay that, and the total cost was less than £50, so I was happy. The Easyjet staff were stunningly efficient and impossibly easy to pick out in their 'delightful' orange uniforms, that I bet they just love! But it does come in handy if you can't find their check-in desk. You soon spot who to ask! The waiting lounge was well staffed and organised. The Easyjet folk made sure that families with small children got checked on first, to ensure swift departure and minimise crying, bored kids. The plane itself was bang on time, nice and tidy, stock full of smiling helpful cabin-crew and took-off and landed plum on-time. What more can you ask for really? Well, Easyjet doesn't fly from or too that many destinations, yet. You're kind of tied to going from Stanstead or Luton (that's where some of the saving comes from, not using Heathrow or Gatwick) and though I flew into Nice, I wanted to come back from Perpignan, not a destination Easyjet operate from. That said, not many other places do either! Also, be warned. You get what you pay for, and no more. The reason it's a budget air-line is becuase they cut the costs. A rather ill-prepared lady behind me in the arrivals lounge was grumbling loudy about "Having to get up at 6am so I had no chance for breakfast and there was NO food on the plane! Terrible service!" Well,
Madam, had you bothered to check you'd have found the reason you only pay £39 for a 70 minute flight is that food is one of the costs cut to save you money! Best to take something to munch with you and water's a good buy too. They do sell drinks on board, but they ain't cheap. Overall, Easyjet were effecient, effective and bloomin' cheap. All I want from an airline really!
