Advantages: Great service and perks
Disadvantages: Lounge at Dubai a bit far from shops and gate
I travelled business clss on Emirates from Dubai to Mahe. This is one of the best flights I have ever had. The aircraft was clean, the staff attentive and polite.
Even before boarding the service begins. Apart from the obvious dedicated check in, I had a limo collect me from my hotel to the airport which was complimentary. After checking in at the dedicated check in, I had use of the business lounge which provided complimentary refreshments and nibbles including sandwiches and wine. The only complaint was the lounge was quite a walk from the shops and the gate.
Once on board, before take off we were offered champagne/ bucks fizz or freshly squeezed orange juice.
The seats recline to almost flat and have adjustable head rests.
Even when the seat beside me was fully reclined, there was still enough room to move out of the window seat without disturbing my neighbour.
Each seat has it's own touch screen monitor. The channels available cater for all tastes, music, children, films and short programmes. Additionally, the aircraft had extrnal cameras so it was possible to get fantastic views from just under the nose of the aircraft which was fascinating on take off and landing.
Additionally, films can be borrowed to watch during the journet.
The five course meal was delicious with good choices. It was not a rushed affair which made it even more pleasant.
As a business class passenger you get the 'perk' of being boarded first and disembarking last.
But the thing that was most amazing, after shopping around, I managed to get this wonderful journey for only £100 more than economy which I have to say was well worth the money.
Admittedly, this price is not always available but it is worth phoning direct if necessary to see what is available.
Summary: Worth looking for a deal to upgrade
