Advantages: modern planes, good food when available

Disadvantages: poor seating, unhelpfull staff, not sufficient quantity of food on board

Prior to my trip to Australia a great deal of background work was carried out to finally decide to fly Emirates. The price was excellent, but the service both before and in flight left much to be desired. Requests for an emergency door or bulkhead seat due to my 6'3" height were swept aside both by Emirates head office and at check in at Heathrow, Dubai and Melbourne, although I was within the first few passengers at check in at all these airports. The In flight entertainment with every passenger having a TV screen was acceptable and the menu cards which give a choice are extremely well presented, unfortunately my choice on two separate flights was finished with the alternative being unnacceptable. Seating in economy was fairly uncomfortable and with the lumber support being inoperatable left much to be desired in short Emirates sell themselves well via travel agents and travel magazines but compared to some other long haul carriers improvements must be made.

why is it that tall people moan about not getting bulkhead seats? What do you suggest an airline do if everyone on board is 6 foot tall? Book business if you want a guaranteed seat with legroom, yes it's pricier but you know in advance what you are getting and that applies to economy seats too. No airline in the world offers more than 34" of legroom in economy and that's a fact!

Oh dear, don't a lot of people take this site oh so seriously.

Your review may have been short, but it summed up what I have suspected for a while - that Emirates are pretty overrated. Come on - they pack in an extra seat across their 777's and manage to fit in a fair few rows too in economy - a few games can't really compensate.

Coul dn't believe the patronising comments you had.

And I managed to say it twice! See, I told you people make mistakes.
