Advantages: fast, convenient

Disadvantages: bad for the environment

I confessed, I have never been comfortable with flying. Yes, I love travelling, I love being able to go many different places in the world.

Someone once told me that you are not human once you are up there in the air, yet another told me the number of air disaster is small compared to being knocked down by a car.

Since I like travelling and I wouldn't be able to escape travelling by air most of the time, I have work out a pyschology mindset to help me through the journey.

I usually do a prayer before the plane takes the air. I hated the feeling of plane departing and landing. I will usually closed my eyes when the plane is taking off or try to distract myself by reading a magazine or newspaper. I only relaxed when the 'no seatbelt' sign goes off.

I try to sleep but I cannot do so. I don't really enjoy watching the movies so I would usually read. My prayers come back when there is a turbulence. Its always a relief when the 'no seatbelt' sign comes up again. I think the best part about flying must be the 'no seatbelt' sign.

I believe a skilful pilot will be able to land the plane smoothly without the bumps. So, as per my normal practice, I will closed my eyes and hope that the landing will be smooth and quick.

I guess I don't really like flying and will never feel safe flying. I am not looking forward to taking the A380 which is supposed to very safe. But I am sure I will still be flying until someone finds a way to connect trains from one continent to another.

I'm a strange flyer, I don't fly often at all, but when I do I love the take off, hate the landing, and don't much like the in between. I try not to look out the window to fool myself I'm on a bus, but love looking at the clouds. I can't win.

My first time in a plane was only a year ago and never again. Train, car and/or ferry everytime! x
