I felt sorry and horrifying after heard a breaking news about a 28 years old woman, Emma Christofferson was killed because of long travelling from Austrialia back to London Heathrow. Her death was caused by a disease named deep vein thrombosis, or DVT in short form. What is this kind of disease? Honestly I had no idea at all before. Now I know that it may happen to everyone - a blood clot (which is due to no movement on legs for long time) in the leg breaks off and travels to the heart or lungs. Sudden death is a likely outcome. Doctors advised us to move around in the airplane or just move our limbs if we take long traveling like more than 10 hours. However how can we really move freely in economy class? I really doubt that. The seats are really small. I really cannot move my legs freely especially when I am sitting beside the window - this is worse when you want to go to the toilet because the two passengers beside you would be annoyed.

I always feet unsafe when taking air flight because I have phobia on height and airplane. When the airplane vibrates randomly (even it is only a small movement) I cannot really open my eyes and sit tight on my seat). Additionally I always feel uncomfortable on airplane due to motion sickness until I am not able to enjoy food on airplane. Now I felt even unsafe after knowing this news. It is really a sad news to me. We should really take precautions now. Well, the possibility that an air crash happens is very unlikely (I reckon that it is about one of millions) when you compare to the accidents on road. However perhaps it is an airplane which fly above the ground, I always feel unsafe.

I think the airlines really have to think of expanding the seats in economy class. I think this is really only the way to solve the DVT from happening to passengers. Additionally as a passanger we really must take good care of ourselves. Though I dislike taking air flight, but it is really the only way to go back to my home country.

Flying IS safe! There are millions of planes taking off and landing safely, it's just that when one crashes, ALL the media makes a big fuss about it for a week cause when a plane crashes, about 200 ppl die and that's a lot. But you shouldn't worry that much!!

Nice wee op ngen - and your English is getting better! Like midflight (below) I love flying - and think that as long as you are sensible and make sure you do get up and walk around often, you are lessening the risks of DVT.

I love flying. In fact I fly all the time, as often as possible and sometimes even more so. Hence my name...
