My experience with Japan Airlines,
I think Japan Airlines is a great company, it was reliable as the departure times where on time or early and the crew was very friendly. When I flew with them I got upgraded to Executive Class on the Boeing 747-400 to Tokyo and the leg room was amazing. I had the ability to change my chair to a bed and then their was space left by my feet.
Food is offered onboard on most flight in the form of breakfast and dinner. Dinner is either Japanese or Western style. For dinner in business class you get to chose between several dishes which are arranged in a three course meal.
Some planes of Japan Airlines are well looked after and maintained like most of the B777 or the B747 and B767. I did see some planes which do have to get a new layer of paint but now loose part or things that look broken like the MD 81 and 87 however these are old planes.
Prices of Air France are higher or in the same range as other planes and sometimes lower however you can drink as much alcohol or soft drinks on most long haul flight which is included in the price.
When I flew to Tokyo I noticed that all seats in business and economy are equipped with TV screens and you had the ability to listen to music, watch cartoon or films and play games which is good as these flight do get boring after a while. You got the chose of Japanese and English movies and the same goes for the music.
The crew I flew with was very nice and fairly young. They where all very helpful and made sure I had a good time on that flight.
Overall Japan Airlines is a good company to fly with and they normally don't have any delays or planes that are broken down. I would recommend this company to everyone that is interested to go to Japan. As long as you could stand all the Japanese speaking (not mend to be insulted).
Thanks for reading ~~Nitrocide~~
Summary: Good, reliable company with some nice food on offer
