“ Low cost airline in the US, based in New York. „
Jet Blue airlines are a budget type of airline which is similar to Easyjet /Ryan air but with a bit more choice and I would go as far as saying much better than them. You can pay a small premium to sit at the front of the plane where the leg room is much better.
Their routes and destinations are quite comprehensive and you can fly from the East coast to the West coast of America and to various destinations throughout the Caribbean very cheaply.
We booked our return flights on line through their own website from the UK before we left for the states and took a flight with Jet blue from JFk airport New York to Buffalo. The booking process was simple and straightforward and during the booking process you could choose your own seats.
Jet blue have their own terminal at JFK which is well serviced with reasonably good facilities. Check in was a breeze as we only had hand luggage as we were flying up see Niagara falls just for the day. All we had to do was present our booking reference at a self service machine and they printed off our boarding cards for the outward and return journey this saved queuing up at the terminal at Buffalo because we were already booked in with boarding cards for the return trip. There was ample staff on hand to help smooth check in and they were all quite cheerful at five o'clock in the morning.
In the terminal there were several food outlets and coffee shops and a couple of shops selling I love New York paraphernalia and a newsagent/book shop. Some of the outlets were not open as it was so early. There were plenty of overhead screens letting you know which departure gate you had to get to. There were good toilet facilities but down at the gate they were not so good for those who were disabled although there was a lift.
Boarding was quick and efficient and we were directed towards our seats. The aircraft was quite comfortable and there were all leather seats which were quite roomy and with good leg room of 34 inch pitch. There were televisions in the back of each of the seats but you had to buy your head sets before you got on the plane. You could no buy the headsets once you were on the plane If you do not buy them then you are unable to use the in flight entertainment system.
You are served a complimentary snack such as a biscuit or a packet of crisps and a drink either coffee, tea or a soft drink which was more than adequate for such a short flight. The snacks were quite interesting they had some crisps that were actually a natural blue colour but they had run out of those quite quickly.
The crew on this leg of our trip were not very professional they were very young and didn't inspire confidence and spent more time preening their hair and mucking about with each other in full view of the passengers rather than seeing to the passengers who were calling them.
The plane left and landed on time.
The return leg was slightly delayed due to terrible thunder storms that evening. There were lots of delays due to these storms and the airport was quite chaotic with a back log of flights. The poor jet blue staff had a job on their hands dealing with irate passengers but they maintained an air of calm and were very pleasant indeed.
Again the aircraft was very good, comfortable and clean but as it was late they did not serve a hot drink although it would have been very welcome indeed.
I thought that Jet Blue were excellent value for money airline and if I were to use an American airline for an internal flight and they flew the route I would definitely use them again.
Their web site is as follow:-
Despite the recent negative media attention, I have had very pleasent experiences traveling with Jetblue. I find that I pay less and have more room to spread out in the comfortable seats than any other airline on which I've flown. I also enjoy the in-flight entertainment along with the nice selection of snacks and alcoholic beverages. If you are having trouble finding a reasonably priced flight, I would certainly recommend at least checking out this airline.
