Advantages: Efficient, friendly, plenty of staff
Disadvantages: never enough leg room, some in experience
We made a late booking to Cyprus with this Company only three weeks before we were due to fly. We wondered if we would have to pick the tickets up at the Airport but, no – they arrived in good time and we set off early for Birmingham to check in early. The check in desks opened earlier than scheduled – there was never much of a queue and when we approached the desk the clerk looked at my husband ( who towers over me like a big grizzly bear) and she said – “ would you like extra leg room sir?” Couldn’t believe it – this was just too good to be true. We spent a pleasant couple of hours looking round the shops, having something to eat and drink when an announcement was made saying our flight was delayed by 20 minutes. Is that all, we said and, if any of you have read my Op on Virgin, you will know why! There was a bit of a hold up boarding the plane but it was soon sorted and we took our seats alongside the exit near the front of the plane and awaited takeoff with the usual trepidation but, never the less, with a British stiff upper lip. The flight was smooth and trouble free. The attendants attentive and the food was the best we have ever had either on a chartered or scheduled airline anywhere in the world. At Larnaka airport we were shown the way to our coach and set off for Protaris with minimum delay. Smokers might like to know that smoking in the Baggage Hall was tolerated although there was a no smoking sign. The Rep on the coach kept her chat to a minimum as it was very late but we were all handed letters advising us when our meeting would take place. The Rep called at our Apartments twice a day most days and, although he was new ( only 3 weeks into the job) he did his best to keep everyone happy. The return to the UK was equally well planned; picked up by coach at the scheduled time we gathered up other travellers on route but there were two delay
s due to people going by taxi to the Airport ( in the hope of getting better seats) and not notifying JMC. Rather thoughtless but probably not intentional. We were amazed when we arrived in Departures to find six JMC desks open – yes SIX. There was very little delay and although we didn’t get extra leg room this time , the flight was not full so we had 3 seats between us. There was a delay in takeoff due to a problem with the baggage handlers which we were not told about – a slip up by the airport staff we think rather than JMC. We eventually boarded, waited for all the cases to be loaded ( not very gently ) and we were off. An hour late – not so bad for a chartered flight and the Captain made up about half an hour on the way back. Again the flight was smooth, food excellent and we landed safely at Birmingham having only praise for this new young Company. No doubt the experience of Thomas Cook for all those years has not gone to waste and I wish them every success for the future. UPDATE - 18/5/01 I sent copies of my Ops on JMC and Panale apartments to the company 2 days ago & did not expect a reply. However, they replied today thanking me for taking the trouble to praise rather than criticise and have offered me a voucher towards another holiday. What good PR - they should go far. Just hope that they don't get TOO BIG like Virgin.

- 22/08/02 I flew with JMC not so long ago and had a similar experience... nice to hear you had a good experience because there are many people who have critisized JMC and I feel that I had a good experience, many of my family have disagreed with me saying they are rubbish but I thought they were great!!!!
Thank you.

- 08/07/01 Nice opinion. Good to hear something positive about tour operators for a change. Personally I don't like tham but I do feel that people have been treating them a little too harshly lately. Hope you enjoy many motr stress-free holidays with them! |
