Advantages: Great staff and planes, Good entertainment and Kids Packs, Great meals and shopping

Disadvantages: Do not fly from Cardiff, Bristol or Luton anymore

I flew with JMC to Crete in August 2001 with my parents and although it is 2003 I am new to dooyoo and I would like to let all you people out there know my experience with JMC airlines nearly 2 years ago. I flew from Gatwick which was extremely pleasant but it was tiring as I live in Cardiff and because there was no seats available from Cardiff we had to catch a train to Gatwick- that was a different matter however. Also JMC airlines is changing to Thomas Cook Airlines

Gatwick Airport
This is a great airport and has restaurants like McDonalds and Burger King and everyone in the airport was friendly. There are loads of planes. It is in Crawley as most of you will know and is just outside London.
Check In
On the outbound flight we arrived at Gatwick 5 hours before the flight but the desks were for all JMC destinations so we were able to check in. It was very quick and efficient. They even had puzzles for Kids with a cartoon JMC plane called Goggles! It was handy and even though I was 11 going on 12 it contained puzzles for older groups too- it passed time away.
On the inbound flight Check-in was quite long but that is life I suppose! There was a 3 hour delay aswell but you can see that info on the next part of my review

Punctuality
The outbound flights punctuality was brilliant. It left on time which was great.
The inbound flight was delayed by 3 hours but obviously I am not going to moan as this happens with all airlines. The reason for the delay was because one plane of JMC had a technical fault and this resulted in a knock on affect. It was an early morning light too so that meant we were stuck at the airport for ages. I still like JMC Air though

The Planes
The planes for both Journeys were B757-200 planes and were clean and modern. If you have read my review about Air 2000 then you will know that I am a plane fan and I did not get the reg for Air 2000. I didn't with JMC either and I am dissapointed with

myself for that!

Comfort
The comfort on the planes were really good, the seats were great and had things like headrests and other comfort helping features. The leg room however was quite cramped. It was the same as the others I have been on (Air 2000, Britannia, Flying colours who were the old name for JMC and MyTravel, formerly Airtours). They had a Mr. Motervator exercise video for how to be healthy in the air.

Cabin Crew
These were very friendly and down to earth both ways. They were happy right from the start to the end. This is one of the main services that should be excellent. It should not be average, good and certainly not poor or very poor. It should be excellent. Me and my parents and all the others on our flight were very lucky to get friendly cabin crew.

Meals
The meal on the outbound flight was very good in-fact. It was sausage and mash with all the other usuall features of a meal- crackers, dessert, sweets and drinks.
The inbound was also good but as it was early in the morning roast chicken was quite too much. I do not really like chicken but this one was nice, even though it was too much. It again featured the usual desert, crackers, sweet and drink.
For both flights they gave you a little peice of card which listed the meal for that flight. I have never been given that before.

Entertainment
The outbound entertainment consisted of the audio cahnnels- I love listening to pop music and it was great! The movie was Shrek but unfortunately I couldn't see the tv that well. The programmes were all comedies and a cartoon- Sheep in the Big City. Also the tvs on the oubound flight were not the usual Boeing TVs! They were drop down ones from the overhead lockers. The ones that you get on Airbus's like the Airbus 320 and 321 and the other ones.
The inbound flights audio cahnnels didn't work! That was alright because the Tv was visible to me. The movie didn't look good so I
never
both
ered. I watched Johnny Bravo though!
The tvs on the inbound flight were the normal Boeing ones. The ones on the ceiling in the aisles. The headphones were for £2.50 and you could keep them. They were very smart.
On both flights there were magazines (like the ones that you get with the other charters). The main one was On Air and it had loads of articles on different things and info on JMC. The shopping one was Off our Trolley and had the shopping info. (See the next part of this review for shopping.) They also gave kids packs on the way out which I kept and had good items for older kids too. It could still cater for young teens like me which is good because I like to have something to pass the time away.
Shopping
There was a wide range of items and because I like planes I naturally bought all of the models of JMC as I always buy models from the gift service. The prices were reasonable.
The drinks and bar service was ver good.

Safety
They had the safety demostrations and cards as it is law to and they took safety really good.

I would recommend Jmc Air (soon to become Thomas Cook airlines to you and if you do, you will enjoy it.) On that holiday I never went with Jmc or there companies I went with Golden Sun who were not great. Also JMC stands for John Mason Cook, Thomas Cooks brother! On the downside if you are near to Cardiff Airport, Bristol Airport or Luton Airport then you will not be able to fly with them. They still have holidays from there but with different airlines. They sometimes fly from these airports though but only when an event is on. This is no good for for me if I wanted to go with them again as I live near to Cardiff Airport(as a first) and Bristol Airport(as a second) and as they don't fly from these, I will not be able to fly from a near airport. Oh well, I will try to fly with someone else like MyTravel(I am going with them in August) or Air 2000 who fly from these two airports. Ha
ppy Holidays!

Hi, Alex here again ;)
