I have just had the misfortune of using KLM after an absence of two years, on that occassion KLM managed to delay the departure of my first flight which resulted in a dash through Schipol to catch the long haul flight which as a consequence meant the luggage did not arrive with the flight eventually arriving 24 hours later with pieces missing. On my most recent flight KLM decided to cancel my first flight putting me on flight the next day resulting in major disruption to my business schedule. On trying to get compensation for this delay I was given the excuse that the flight had been cancelled for technical reasons therefore no compensation would be paid, this excuse is a smokescreen as the same flight was also delayed the next day. Never fly KLM.

I have been for more than 10 years Royal Wing member with the KLM Flying Dutchman and have been changed to Platium Elite plus with Skyteam. On paper I have a lot of avantages but every year these are reduced. Now using the KLM/AirFrance lounge in Barcelona is not allowed anymore, because I was flying a non Skyteam airline. This change was never mentioned! Next to many other changes. Even the priority on flights is not what is was. I wonder if I still want to use this card. I was a Platinum Elite member of the Flying Dutchman program, which has recently changed to Flying Blue program, very appropriate name change as it is giving me the blues!! I had accumulated 140,000 plus miles and KLM used to be my favorite airline until I realized that I can not encash my "accumulated" miles. They have a long list of excuses to deny you flights using your milage. I have flown KLM a lot for about five years now and I think that they are ok, except for the poor food. The points scheme looked very good, but I have just tried to book a couple of award flights on their website. The interface is very poor. I get endless 'no suitable flight found', which may mean that KLM do not fly that route, or it is the wrong day, or it is fully booked, or there are no award seats - who knows! It does not appear to check days either side of the input dates and there is no way of finding out if there are any award seats available at all without endlessly guessing dates and destinations.
