I have flown KLM a lot for about five years now and I think that they are ok, except for the poor food. The points scheme looked very good, but I have just tried to book a couple of award flights on their website. The interface is very poor. I get endless 'no suitable flight found', which may mean that KLM do not fly that route, or it is the wrong day, or it is fully booked, or there are no award seats - who knows! It does not appear to check days either side of the input dates and there is no way of finding out if there are any award seats available at all without endlessly guessing dates and destinations.
I checked three destinations over a two weeks period in December and they were all 'no suitable flights', but oddly enough when I contacted a ticket agency there were plenty of cut price KLM seats on those flights.
It seems that very few award seats are made available.
