Advantages: Can be big saving on tickets

Disadvantages: Cramped conditions, lack of drinks, miserable crew

Flew Heathrow/Amsterdam/Cape Town for our honeymoon last year - to be fair it saved us £300 each on airfares but wouldn't do it again out of choice! The hop across to Amsterdam was quick, efficient, comfortable and were accompanied by a happy cabin crew - they even supplied free drinks and nibbles which was impressive based on the short flight time. Had to traverse the Schipol terminal in reasonably quick time but it wasn't an issue. The following 10.5hour flight to South Africa was close to pergatory - the seats were uncomfortable, the leg room was appalling for a long haul trip, the food was less than distinctly average. As for the cabin crew, perhaps they all need to find a different vocation in life - they were just plain miserable!!! We were ignored for drinks just because my husband had the audacity to be standing up briefly when they came by - he was told off by one when he went to enquire after getting some water. The flight home after a glorious holiday was just as indifferent and although the tickets were monetarily good value, the experience wasn't! Would not recommend to anyone!
