Advantages: cheaper than BA business class, friendly staff

Disadvantages: not sure about their safety record (anyone?)

A lunchtime departure to London provides a quiet terminal/check-in at Warsaw Airport - resulting in instant service and no queuing for immigration. With 45 minutes to spare, a visit to the Qualiflyer lounge provides the opportunity to check e-mails, coffee and a check on latest news. A reasonable airline lounge, although still lacking in general business facilities - a great range of snack food items though.

Being a compact terminal building, the walk to boarding gate is just 2 minutes, and once there, it's straight onto a half-full 737 flight to London. Cabin staff are quick to offer the jacket hanging service on boarding, followed by the tray of boarding drinks - orange juice, sparkling wine or water. A trolley of newspapers follows rapidly, topped off a few minutes later by staff offering a choice of magazines in the business class cabin. Once a safety display is over, the Captain announces the departure, and in just a few minutes we are airborne - above a sunny, October countryside in Poland.

Into the inflight service, and staff offer hot towels - with a cold cabin, this is particularly welcome. After a discreet clearance of towels, the bar service appears, staff are cheerful and friendly as they serve drinks to passengers. Lunch menus are distributed and the meal cart appears - the aroma of cooked bacon emanating from the galley. A nicely presented meal tray, (that on first impression contains two meals) is handed out by cabin staff. For a late lunch on a short haul European flight, the meal is more than generous. Hot brown rolls are quickly offered, alongside a choice of good quality french wines. As to food standards, LOT provides a high standard of catering in this Business Class cabin contrasted with other European airlines - quality ingredients, a good flavour, large portions and with most meals supplied ex-Warsaw, the consistency standards are high. After two rounds of coffee and tea, meal trays are cleared away, with a brief offer
ing of duty free to follow.
For the remainder of this short 2 hrs. 15 min flight, a chance to rest.

Overall assessment of this business class service a cheerful and quite enthusiastic cabin staff provide an efficient service. Onboard catering is good - (not quite the quality marque of Swissair or Lufthansa but close) and ranking well against other European carriers.
One complaint - business class seats - which are configures 3 x 3 for full flights. This is an outdated level of discomfort, and I'd liketo see it changed before/if I fly the route again
