Advantages: Nice staff, nice plane and nice food!!
Disadvantages: None
Comfort was brilliant and I was just economy.
I suppose that's one way of summing up this fantastic airline. I used Malaysia Airlines for flying from Frankfurt to Kuala Lumpur and then to Perth (AU) and also for the return legs one year later.
The check in at Frankfurt, Kuala Lumpur and Perth airport was very quick and Im not sure if that was down to the excellence of the airport staff, the airline staff or a combination of both, but what I find is that a quick easy going check in is the perfect start to a good trip.
Getting Started;
Getting on to the plane, the staff were extremely helpful guiding me to my seat and once every one was settled and in their seats the cabin staff came round, but unlike other airlines all the cabin staff personally asked each passenger if everything was ok, this was and excellent touch.
The seat I was in, I could have been forgiven for thinking that I was upgraded as there was plenty of leg room, the seats where nice and wide and you had a blanket and pillow close by for use. In the back of the seat in front you have a small television around 7inches wide. There is a set of headphones and a remote control supplied.
Up In The Air;
Once we had begun flying our entertainment system kicked in and again for economy class you had a wonderful choice of films, television shows, sports shows, radio and a few classic games to help you pass the time.
Again as I pointed out earlier, the hostess' were very helpful and once we had got onto a level flying position the came around with a packet of nuts and an orange juice. Whenever yo requested a drink they got it for you, as I had a few I greatly appreciated how nice and helpful the staff were.
Toilets;
The toilets where in very good condition and very spacious which was a great help when travelling long haul as you like to be able to go freshen up. A great improvement on any other airline toilet.
Food;
The food was very good, a great selection also, you could have Eastern or Western cuisine and it was very taste indeed, from braised steak to sweet and sour pork the dinners where very high in quality. As I was long haul we also had a breakfast again a Western or Eastern type breakfast was on offer.
The service with this airline from first class, from booking to getting off and another comment I have was the "open ticket" that I had. Most airlines charge a fee for changing the date or ask for 7 days notice, with Malaysia there was no fee and only 48 hours notice was needed, another great touch.
Obviously you wont be able to use them as often as local airlines, but for your long haul flights, give this company a try, they treat everyone like you are the only person on board and from your Hostesses to you check in staff all employees of the company make your journey with them one to remember for all the right reasons.
Summary: The number one airline (my view) for long haul flying
