Advantages: Cabin crew were fairly helpful, despite the "technical problems" with the plane

Disadvantages: Changes of flight and landing times, stops for refuelling and cramped seats

We had serious problems with Monarch Airlines on the outbound and return flights. On both occasions they experienced "technical problems" with their planes causing delays and badly-communicated changes of arrangements. As a relatively inexperienced flyer, I found this quite unsettling.

Worst of all, the aircraft used for the return flight was clearly not suitable for long-haul journeys: there were insufficient toilets for the number of people and the legroom was excruciatingly cramped. Furthermore, we had to make a landing halfway through the flight for refuelling: this added several hours to our journey and meant that we were kept cooped up in the cramped plane without drinks or aircon for two hours. Even though I am not usually claustrophobic, I began to feel edgy being confined in the hot, airless cabin for so long; several other passengers were openly distressed.

I would strongly recommend that you do not fly with this airline. Although, I wouldn't go so far as to say that my flight ruined my holiday, it caused it to begin and end in a very unpleasant way.
