Monarch airlines is a fantastic airline for short flights and longer ones too. I frequently use them when I fly out to Spain from London's Luton airport. They run a fleet of 33 aircrafts - mostly airbuses but they have some Boeings too. Currently, one of their A321-200 is being used in the TV programme - 'Celebair' after being repainted.

Monarch offer cheap flights but they are much more pleasant to fly with than easyjet or ryanair who fly similar short-haul routes. Monarch seem to have friendlier staff and they don't literally chuck you on and off like ryanair do. Every time I have flown with Monarch, I have been happy with everything. The seats are comfortable and I haven't seen any off-putting chewing gum on the seat in front YET. Everything has always been in order and it has been clean.

The staff are very friendly and willing to help. There are usually 2-3 cabin crew along with a Captain and co-pilot. The captains have always been English and very informative on the flight information. The flights are cheap but not as cheap as easyjet and ryanair. However, the staff are more friendly and the service is better. You get a newspaper when boarding the plane and you also get a lovely warm face towel before landing. It's generally a nicer airline than others.
