Advantages: Cheep way to holiday in Canada

Disadvantages: no leg room.

Most people use a charter as a cheep way of arriving at a destination, or simply as part of a package holiday.
I flew with Monarch from Gatwick to Calgary on a flight lasting about 9 hours.
The seating was 3*3*3 and quite cosy if you were sitting next to a stranger, luckily I wasnt sat next to a large or smelly person.
At meal times it was almost impossible to eat directly from the tray of food, and a lot of people had to lift the tray nearer to there mouths.

Free headphones were provided, along with one movie and the usual selection of 30 minute TV repeats.

Free wine was included with the meal, ice creams were also served mid way.
The staff all seemed friendly and eager to please.
On arriving in Calgary it was so cold that the doors had frozen shut and it took 20 minutes to de-ice them. However I wouldnt hold this against them.
I would be happy to use Monarch again as a charter. I am realistic about getting what you pay for, and as this holiday cost £400 for flights and 2 weeks accomadation in Jasper , I was delighted with the value for money.

Good report on the whole but could do with a bit more detail about the flight. I am not sure if thats particularly safe for the door to freeze shut as what would you do if you needed to get out in emergency but thats the problem with these cold countries.
