Advantages: Good value
Disadvantages: only fly to Espana
In February I went to spend 5 days in one of my favourite cities-Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It cost 65.00 return which I thought was an absolute bargain. My first worry was that I had to fly with crappy Easyjet, not the greatest and pleasant company to fly with even if they are cheap as chips, the trolly dollies seem to all have gotten PhD's in rudeness from Rude University, i wish they drop the attitude they're just glorified bar tenders and waitresses. Anyhoo I digress somewhat, I went to Barcelona with Monarch Airlines and I was very surprised by how nice the flight crew were and also how nice and safe the planes looked. The flight crew on several occasions called me Sir and when I went to the boarding gate they said 'Thank you, Mr. Brown', it was a hell of a lot more civil than Easyjet's sit down and shut up policy. Monarch Airlines fly to airports in Spain and Marjorca and Tenerife, if I fly to Spain now I will always use them. After take off, the flight staff handed out newspapers and free drinks, which i found most accomodating, I'm not the best flier in the world but on my outbound flight to Barcelona I forgot how scared I usually am when 36,000 ft above the Earth and settled down for an admittedly brief flight. I found the aeroplane in general to be very clean and the actual body of the plane was sleek and new. Monarch airlines certainly beat Easyjet on on just about every level. The food, the notoriously bad aeroplane food was rather yummy, though I recommend the Vegetarian option so has to avoid stomach upsets and being unable to identify what it is your actually eating, ''It says chicken on the menu, but I think this is from another planet'', that was my experience of the now defunct Air Tours. The breakfast option was some kind of tomato and pretend sausage dish which was nice, followed by a fruit salad and a blueberry muffin. On the return back to Blighty, I had a lovely tomato a
nd feta cheese dish with a truly nice chocolate cake with a layer of biscuit at the bottom. Flying to Spain with Monarch Airlines was great, the staff were great including the two cool captains with ridiculous names Cpt. Scott Skinner and Cpt. Sandy Easton, thanks for those comfortable turbulence free flights! I highly recommend flying with Monarch because I had a jolly good time. To book with them visit www.flymonarch.com and book there, they give you a reference number and you don't need a ticket, just print out your reference number, pack your suitcase and get flyin'. Seriously I had a great experience with Monarch Airlines, I hope you do too.
