Northwest was the first airline I flew with way back when I was just a wee lad (about 10-15 years ago) and my parents had decided to take me out to the USA to go to Florida and its theme parks and also head along the Mississippi for a short visit with family but the experience has always stuck with me as one of excellence. Northwest Airlines is an airline who operate across the world but of recent times have somewhat shrunk their operations outside of the USA. We flew Northwestern from Amsterdam to Minneapolis then on an internal flight Minneapolis to LAX. (this was a code share with KLM) International flight: It was quite a big plane and I think it was configured 2-5-2 we were in a 2. This was excellent flight. Check in was easy as we had done it on line, just had to bag drop. Boarding was the usual queue of people that start a line before their section has been called but we were soon on and seated. There was a reasonable amount of leg room, I'm tall and was relived to be able to stretch out a bit. We left on time and had a very smooth ride. I flew with North West Airlines for an internal flight after flying into Las Vegas. Check in was quick and easy, with a very friendly member of staff who tried her hardest to get me onto an earlier flight (which wasn't possible unfortuantly). The flight was very late at night and there was hardly anyone on it, only about 10 people. The hostess on board let us sit anywhere we wanted and encouraged us to spread out. Although the flight was only short the hostess brought around drinks and chatted with individuals. I have flown by NWA a total of four times, direct flights between gatwick and detroit. Always economy. I took my first flight with this company, an 8 hour haul transatlantic and I was reassured and comforted by their incredibly helpful and friendly staff. They greet you with smiles and see you off with the same. They are always willing to try to accomodate you, taking into account both you and they are stuck in a very small space for a good few hours. The pilot always seems to be friendly, more than once adding a joke or breezy comment on his introduction and keeping passengers updated of any issues or information in-flight.
