Advantages: Fantastic customer service, comfortable as can be expected in economy, great entertainment options

Disadvantages: not organised with reward scheme, planes are a little noisy

I have flown by NWA a total of four times, direct flights between gatwick and detroit. Always economy.

I took my first flight with this company, an 8 hour haul transatlantic and I was reassured and comforted by their incredibly helpful and friendly staff. They greet you with smiles and see you off with the same. They are always willing to try to accomodate you, taking into account both you and they are stuck in a very small space for a good few hours.
The pilot always seems to be friendly, more than once adding a joke or breezy comment on his introduction and keeping passengers updated of any issues or information in-flight.

I have witness several customerservice gems on these flights, swapping passengers around to accomodate larger families, always with curteous requests, I was more than happy to swap seats with a little 7 year old boy that had accidentily ended up being seated away from his family.
Flight attendants speeding off to find out if the inflight meal included nuts for an allergic boy, and then also making an announcement over the speakers to request other passengers take particulalar care with any nuts they had in that section of the plane.

The flights are actually surprisingly comfotable, not so much if you are seated next to a stranger, but there is definately a good amount of room for legs, and the seats are laid out 2-4-2 so you dont get squidged between strangers and if the seats in the middle are free you can lay down, as i have seen a few people do.

The in flight entertainment is good actually, seatback tvs in economy is a good sign and with handheld remotes you have a good choice of films, split into genre, or other options like 3 hours of kids tv programs provided by nikolodeon (actually 6 hrs as there is little kids and slightly biggers kid's options)
there are also majong style games that you can play as well as a couple of trivia quizes.
You can watch the flightpath and view flight information in several languages, see what time/temp etc...
You can also explore a google earth style sattelitte map of the earth which lets you explore your destination and beyond before you arrive, at least geographically.

I have not tested the inflight shopping, but they are not too pushy with it, you simply get an infomercial while takeoff is being prepared, after the safety information.

The only negative is that i have applied for a reward card several times and i still dont have it.

Overall very good experiences every time.

Summary: I will always choose NWA as my first preference, and i make that trip quite often.

Was considering this airline along with KLM for a trip I'm planning soon, this airline does sound better from what I've read so far :)

Sounds a lot better than American - now that's a classically BAD service airline.

Well written and as much as I need to know. I have been considering giving this airline a try for my next trip to the states; I have used Continental before and while i'm not fussy, I think NWA might be a nice change. Fiona
