Olympic AirwaysNewest Review: ... and each other. Again, maybe if the flight had been packed they wouldn't have had the time. As Olympic Airways is a full-service airline, you are offered drinks and a full meal onboard. Once we'd taken off, it was a drinks trolley with a small-ish but adeqeute range of juices, soft drinks and alcohol, although they were not accompanied by any nuts or pretzels. The meals on both legs were good; coleslaw and then a main dish of pasta- one way it was spaghetti bolognaise, and on the other it was a pasta bake. They didn't offer you a choice, just put the food down in front of you, but I'm assuming that if you were a vegetarian, or had spec... more |

I went to Athens in June of this year and one of the first things to sort out was how I was going to get there. I decided to give Olympic Airlines/Airways (OA) a try. THE COMPANY: OA is Greece's national airline, and was founded in 1957. The company has expanded over the years, amalgamating with other Aviation-related companies. I have found it hard to figure out whether the company is officially Olympic Airlines, or Olympic Airways. In any case, I'm just going to refer to them as OA. They fly to many destinations within Greece, as well as to many major cities in Europe, including London Heathrow and Manchester (Although flights don't go every day from ... Read the complete review

Well...I've travelled with them many-many times (both to Greece and Australia) and I can say for definate that the in-plane staff is maybe amongst the most polite and friendly that I've ever met. Olympic Airways travels from two aiports in Britain: Manchester Airport and Heathrow.Judging from personal experience is better to travel from Heathrow since there they have their own desk and deal with matters more quickly, while in Manchester they use Servisair which tends to be quite slow with customer enquiries. For example two years ago,I was travelling from Heathrow to Dubai via Athens(OA is quite good value for money in that kind of fares)to a medical ... Read the complete review

I fly with Olympic Airways quite frequently, every 2-3 months, and, even though I have never been on a long haul flight with them, I am very happy with the service they provide. I don't remember any bad incidents taking place and the staff are always very helpful and friendly. If you are lucky enough to fly with the newer aircrafts (such as B737-300, B737-300 and A340-300) then you will made to feel like a king!! The new type seats are more comfortable and they have a personal video screen, remote video control unit, adjustable head rest, footrest and large seat back recline. Greek and foreign newspapers are available on board and the food is excellent, ... Read the complete review

I have used them many a time on a Tel Aviv, Athens Bangkok, Melbourne & back route. This is a long trip and as I'm no spring chicken, comfort is important Very good facilities for economy class are provided. Hospitality in Athens is tops. A wait of more than six hours for the next plane entitles you to a hotel and a much needed shower and rest. Food is excelent. Service friendly and laid back. You will not be admonished for strolling in the aisle to stretch your legs and liquid refreshments are plentiful to counteract the dehydration of the air conditioning. The Greeks are a bit noisy, but young Brits were not very backward about coming forward either. On ... Read the complete review

If there's a slot going on offer then Olympic will fly they’re cheapest. It’s the case to OZ and it’s still the case to South Africa at a cool 350 pounds to Joburg rtn. It will get you there but boy you will feel it. On my return flight, I swear the pilot stopped (1 of 5) in Sedan for a packet of fags and a paper. There can be up to three-commuter pullovers in Greece itself including the infamous Athens airport on the return flight to Heathrow. I remember taking off from Nairobi with the pilots door swinging open as he chatted away to a man with a rather brisling mustache propping it up the door on its hinges, all very err cheap. If you want to ... Read the complete review
