Advantages: Duty Free
Disadvantages: Expensive
We recently booked a cheap last minute holiday to Turkey and paid a total of £660 for two adults. £30 of this was for transfers and £70 for the hotel, which left around £550 for the flights.
Onur airline is a Turkish company and the staff which were crewing on our flights were all Turkish and could be hard to understand.
The actual check in and boarding went smoothly enough on both sides with no delays. Once onboard however you could tell that this was a budget airline, although I still think Easyjet and Aerlingus are better budget ones.
The pilot and crew spoke in Turkish first and then English. I don't speak Turkish, but it did seem to last a lot longer than the English version so I don't think we were told all the same information.
Small television screens appeared overhead and I stupidly assumed this was to show a film, but instead a map appeared and was on the entire flight.
Meals were not included in the price, but again we assumed we could buy something on board. You have the choice of 2 different filled rolls...one was tomato and cheese and the other was a meat option...however they were very expensive. The prices were shown in Euros so we found it a bit awkward to convert to English to then convert into Lira. I do know a can of Coke worked out at £4 which I wasn't going to pay.
They do have a duty free trolley as well which was good for cigs and drink...200 Bekerley Menthol was 18 Euro.
Overall it was a very basic budget airline, and with a flight time of nearly 5 hours from Belfast to Dalaman it could have been better.
Summary: Try And Use Another Airline
