Last year I made three trips to Japan, but didn't align myself to a particular mileage scheme. Big mistake! However, what I hadn't realised was how hideously complicated it was to choose the right plan. There are subscription web publications that are dedicated to this question, but I didn't want to part with my cash just to make what I had assumed would be a straightforward decision.
