Pegasus airlines, never seen or heard of them before? no i had not either, i flew with this company in 2001 but saying no one had reviewed them i thought i might as well give it a go. We were going on our jollies to allitinkum in turkey, i had never been to turkey before so i had no idea what to expect. We left home around half five in the morning to get to Manchester airport for check in, as any one else i was not over awake and the journey to the airport was a ball ache even though it is only a hour drive for us at the other side, the correct side of the Pennines. On arriving at Manchester?s terminal 2 we proceeded to try and find our check in desk which was quite amusing as the terminal was packed out and as i can remember Pegasus only had 2 check in desks open for this flight. Once we had managed to get through check in and got to the departure lounge it was time to get settled at which point my mate got a pint of Guinness at half 7 in the morning how sick. I settled next to the windows with good views over the plane stands and aprons, i don?t know if this is where the Trans Atlantic flights go from but they were some big 747s and what i think was an a300 airbus or some version of that type. As i was looking around our plane was not any where to be seen, when it showed up i kind of wished it didn?t as it looked puny next to all the other aircraft been a 737 400, now i aint no expert but guessing i would say a 4 and half hour flight would be the limit for this kind of plane. Once boarding had commenced we got settled for the flight, this is when i started to take note on the plane. We were sat 3 rows back in the left hand side, well i was and my mates mam and dad who came with us to buy an apartment, my mate had to sit next to 2 strangers because of the layout of a 737 with 3 seats each side. The plane was in superb condition as the dates on the windows indicated it was only built in 98, that how ever is where it stopped, it had n
o radios or TVs, i guess with it been a Turkish airline they got the cheapest they could. The staff were really friendly and one of the stewardesses was lovely, well until she lifted her arms for the safety drill, urgh arm pit hair! The in flight meal was Turkish breakfast, i found this food was nice and tasty, soft drinks were provided free of charge through out the flight, you could buy beer and wine to drink on the flight, the beer was about coke can size and the wine was a small bottle it was well priced though. As the flight dragged on i became more and more fed up, i was sat looking out of the window at what i guess to be about 36000 feet (i could not tell you for a fact as it had no altimeter or speed indicator for the passengers to view) when a plane flew past pretty god dam close, i could make out the windows on the side, this was the best bit of the flight so far, taking off and landing are always good fun as is turbulence. At one point i had got that fed up i was trying to spot cars on the roads below us as it was a clear day, i didn?t manage though. By the time they came over the tanoy to put our seat belts on i was almost in tears and was glad that something was about to happen. Any body who has flown into Izmer in Turkey will know what a different approach it is, we started to come down it a circular approach between the mountains, the plane levelled and got to the final approach i could have sworn that the undercarriage was going to hit the cab of the truck on the motorway below us, the plane flirted with the tarmac and embraced with such a touch it would make any man envious and wish they could do it that well with the missus, the pilot preformed the best landing i have ever witnessed. The return flight did not go so smooth though, we were about 3 and half hours late, this was not good as we had gone to the airport in the early hours to get the flight. The flight was a repeat performance of the outward flight the plane must have been
second hand as you could see the original company name painted out on the fuselage. The landing was a bit of a bouncy one as well.
