I would like to give a big thanks to all the staff at pennine helicopters.I only had one flight cancelled, all phone calls I made were polite, helpful and professional. The ground crew were friendly and helpful.I was a little nervous at first, But cpt. Ruddy made me feel relaxed and comfortable, What a lovely manWhat's more amazing was being able to take the co pilot seat.I am still flying high from the experience, keep going over it, shame it wasn't an hour long, it went so quickly. Would definitely do it again.May I take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Regards Diana Orme. P.S. will recommend to everyone I know
My family and I chartered a helicopter flight from our family farm to the Lake District. Before booking I spoke to several Helicopter companies and to be honest none of them came anywhere near to the excellent service of Pennine helicopters. From the moment of my first inquiry right through to the follow up call after our flight we received an exceptional professional service. They kept me informed all the way prior to the flight, arrived on time, explained everything to us and made our flight the truly wonderful experience it was meant to be.Thankyou so much
I would like to say that I have now flown with Pennine Helicopters twice. The first time was a gift and I found the whole experience fantastic. The second flight, which was today, was booked for a group of disabled. Deaf people. On both occasions, I have found the staff and the pilot very helpful and courteous and I would have no hesitation in booking with them again (in fact I intend to) and indeed would recommend them highly.Regarding the cancellation of flights, we did have one cancelled because of the fog, but the company did do their best to get to us and I would much rather the flight was enjoyable and safe...... so please all you lot that have complained about cancellations... get a grip!
Pennine helicopters are the worst company i have ever delt with i had my flights cancelled time and time again over 12 months and never got a flight as they said my tickets ran out, there service on the phone was appalling they were not bothered i lost over £400 on a so called Dam buster run.Never ever recomend them a poor poor company to deal with anybody thinking of using them dont, i have contacts that will not use them or give them any reference what so ever
I bought my grandma a 20 minute flight on The Dambusters Run worth £155.00 for her birthday; She took it from the Huntsman at Holmfirth. She thoroughly enjoyed it flying over the areas my grandma and grandad used to walk...
The flights were cancelled twice due to bad weather and each time they were cancelled I was not at all disappointed for my grandma as it is safety at the end of the day.
The other review I read on Pennine Helicopters Ltd by another person is obviously a very difficult customer!!
I am currently completing an Aviation degree and many times we have our training cancelled due to bad weather!! The whole industry revolves around safety and must be understood, hence the flights would be cancelled by a bad weather forecast or a malfunction as it is unsafe...The company will have to ensure that every possible angle is safe, I'm sure the company do not cancel for their own benefit... as what's the point in running a business to do that?!
Air travel is the safest form of travel!! Risks cannot afford to be taken! It's better to be safe than sorry!!
It annoys me that someone can be so naive and vindictive about the company!! My grandma and I would not have minded the flights being cancelled 20 times as long as the actual flight day was right and safe!! I do remember when booking that the lady said if the flights are cancelled due to bad weather they are postponed until another day when the weather forecast is better and refunds are not available due to bad weather, however the voucher is valid for another 12 months after each date of cancellation. So what breach of contract is that?!
I am going to book my mum and dad a flight for their wedding anniversary on a Dambusters Run again as my Grandma said it was so good.
The company was very helpful and efficient, and the staff on the flight day were brilliant with my Grandma as she is elderly and struggles to walk. I saw many happy faces from all ages of people that day so personally I would say it is a very good company!!
I was hoping to review a wonderful experience, a great gift idea and some exceptional service reports on Pennine Helicopters, but, I've found myself entirely unable to and I can only review based on the complete lack of service we've had so far.
I paid £115 for a co-pilot seat on a helicopter pleasure flight for my Dad for his 50th birthday, thinking this would be a great experience for him. So, I bought the voucher in August ready for his birthday in September and gave it to him with a booking for
the next day.
The company have a number of different sites they fly from and destinations and possible flight routes in addition to the potential seating allocation. All that information can be found on their website, I'm afraid I'm not writing to fly their flag for them, if only I were.
That flight never took off and none of his booked flights have done since then.
My Dad and I have made multiple bookings which the company have cancelled because of the weather, there was also a cancellation because the helicopter was grounded due to malfunction. You have to call an answering service each morning you have a booking, which lets you know if the flight will go ahead.... or not in this case. Ever.
So, 14 months later and more than 10 cancellations later my Dad is sick of booking flights which are cancelled and I'm sick of him still not receiving his birthday gift.
I called the company 3 weeks ago to ask for a refund since they have been been able to deliver in a 'reasonable amount of time', therefore enabling my Dad to take the money and actually use it for something instead of it gaining interest in Pennine's coffers.
Through a 25 minute call I was basically refused a refund with more excuses than a teenager who's late for curfew. Apparently it's not their fault the weather has been abysmal (true but irrelevant to the sale of goods act), three people have recently been killed in helicopter accidents and surely I don't want my Dad to be at risk (obviously), that the money paid out will have only paid for the insurance to cover each flight which never took place (rubbish and not my problem since I paid for a flight not their policy) and numerous other well rehearsed reasons why they should not refund.
The information the pilot gave, perhaps without meaning to, is that lots of people have asked for refunds and no one gets them, unless something terrible has happened, or so I'm told.
It has been known that the current record for cancelled flights is either 13 or 15, but no one seemed sure.
My Dad then chose to book one more flight, which, if undelivered will have the full support of one of the pilots (Chris) who we spoke to, get a full refund.
At this stage you might imagine I'm more than upset about the extended delay in my Dad actually having his gift.
So, the day came and went, the flight was cancelled yet again!
My Dad and I both called the pilot who has been advised to step back from the situation by the company and now refuses to help us obtain a refund.
We now stand at 12 cancellations in total, over 14 months of time and disappointment and the company steadfastly refuse to refund in full.
In fact they've refused a refund at all at this stage, not even the 75%.
Legally they haven't been able to deliver the service within a 'reasonable amount of time' so they are in breach of contract.
This company are so shady it's scary! So, in terms of reviewing the company to be a good gift idea I'd steer well clear. You may not undertake the flight in anything like the timescale you hope for, which could spoil the whole experience and if you choose to cancel, you won't get all your money back.
To put it in perspective, you could have a house built in half the time Pennine have had to deliver their service so far. Or you could conceive, gestate, give birth to and be suffering the sleepless nights of a baby in 5 months less.
I'll update the review as our case progresses.
Update: October 2009, still no flight.
