      Disadvantages

      Terrible Customer Service.

I've traveled international flights many times over the past 20 years but this has got to be the worst experience I've had ever.

We booked our itinerary from Miami, USA to Delhi, India via the Qatar website. For the first leg, they booked us on a "Qatar flight serviced by United Airlines" that did not exist. I reached the airport 3 hours before my scheduled departure and the United agent told me that Qatar booked me on a flight that didn't exist. My name was on a much earlier flight that was not part of our Qatar confirmed reservation and of course had already left.

When I called "Qatar US Reservations" (not customer service, there is no customer service number to call, only email for Customer service). Can you believe that? They informed us that this happens quite often because the "codeshare" partners (United, American Airlines, etc) do not inform Qatar when they change their flight schedules. We were told that we should try to seek a resolution with United Airlines since they "failed to inform Qatar of the schedule change". Basically, they refused to take any responsibility and blamed their code share partners for the problem. I lost an entire day of travel and they didn't offer me hotel stay or any other compensation.

They kept telling us that could "email customer service to have research done". After hours of arguing with different Qatar people, they finally reworked our Itinerary for the following day beginning with an American Airlines flight. When we arrived to check in, the AA agent informed us that no tickets had been issued by Qatar and we would not be able to board the plane unless tickets were issued in the next 10 minutes. Unbelievably bad customer service from Qatar.

Somehow we managed to have Qatar airways rectify the issue and barely made it on the flight. On reaching NY I talked to the Qatar agent at the gate and she was rude and kept saying email Qatar customer service and they will research it. Exactly same response from the ticketing desk in Delhi.

On my return flight, I asked if they would upgrade me to business class for the all the trouble they caused me, but they were again not friendly and said send an email to customer service. Then on my connecting flight from Houston to Miami my baggage was misplaced. When I called then, they blamed American Airlines for the problem and showed no empathy or sympathy. Terrible customer service.

After my return to the US I got a response from Qatar Airways. They still didn't take any responsibility and kept blaming their code share partners.

They did offer me a 250$ coupon if I travel with Qatar again but I declined.

By far, Qatar is the most unprofessional and unreliable airline we have ever encountered and we will not use them again.

      I should have flown Emirates

I have just got back from a week in Abu Dhabi having flown there with Qatar Airlines. This involved a flight from Manchester to Doha and then a 1 hour flight from Doha to Abu Dhabi. As such I was able to see both the long haul and the short haul service that they offer. On the whole they were pretty good, got me there and back in one piece (despite having to suddenly pull up in Doha when we were 10m from the ground because another plane had not cleared the runway!) and my only real disappointment was simply that they are not as good as Emirates.

      Booking
      ----------
I didn't book directly with them as I had found some nice online vouchers for Opodo and saved myself £35/person as a result. Once booked though the communications were very good. We bought our flights many months in advance and were kept up to date via email of any schedule changes - in the end it was only a matter of our flights changing by 5 minutes but it was nice to be kept informed

      Online Check In
      ----------------------
You can just turn up on the day but it saves a lot of queuing time if you book in online, print off your own boarding passes and use the Qatar Airways quick baggage drop off lane at the airport. We used their website to do this and found everything straightforward and were even allowed to choose our seats at no extra cost. My one slight annoyance was that it was only possible to check in 36 hours in advance. This was fine when travelling out but it is not always easy to get access to a PC and printer when you are abroad so sorting ourselves out for the return journey was a little difficult

      Flights
      ---------
On each of the 4 flights we took we found that we were boarded onto the plane much earlier than I am used to - in most cases around 1 hour before the flight left. This meant that the earlier passengers could get sorted out on the plane without having a load of people waiting to brush past them. Equally the late arrivers had clear aisles and could get to their seats quickly.

The staff were well presented and friendly and the pilot kept us well updated with how we were getting on.

The meals onboard are of a decent standard in comparison to other airlines I have used and likewise the TV screens offered a good choice of films, programmes, games and music.

Overall though Emirates are just that little bit better - they have more modern planes and plenty of staff walking the aisles, on hand to provide refreshments if asked. With both legs of the long haul flights there was just one lady stood near the toilet area handing out drinks. This meant that the queues for the toilets and the drinks blended into one with the result that you had to wait a long time for either facility.

The change in Doha was a bit chaotic and for that reason I would not rush to use Qatar airlines again. As we arrived everyone had to go through security check in again and there were only 3 baggage check machines open for all arriving flights which meant there were long queues. I really don't know why they do this, everyone has just got off a plane, they will have been checked at their initial airport, so what is this additional check going to achieve? Also the security guard only seemed bothered that I took my belt off. When both myself and a friend went through the metal scanner and the alarm went off nobody came over to check.

On the short haul flight from Doha to Abu Dhabi the service was similar but I found it a bit strange that they again had the TV screens with the full choice of films etc but did not have any headphones aboard (unfortunately they are bespoke headphones and your usual ones won't work).

Think twice before booking with Qatar Airways!

If your ITALIAN traveling with children, think twice before booking tickets with QATAR Airways! My sister and her family were denied check-in at Rome due to insufficient documents. Under the Italian law, my niece travels under her mother's passport and has done so in the past. Upon check-in at Rome airport my sister was informed a picture of my niece on her passport was a requirement for immigration entry into Doha, despite that fact their final destination being Dubai. After contacting Qatar Airway's e-commerce support, the only so-called 'support' I received was an email highlighting the fine points of the booking I made which was to contact my Embassy for visa requirements before traveling. I contacted the Italian Embassies in UAE who could not tell me the specific requirements and eventually the Italian Embassy in Doha informed me the picture of my niece on her mother's passport is NOT a requirement at all, especially if the transit time is less than 2 hours. On the bottom of Qatar Airway's booking page is a IATA website link and after filling out the required fields (nationality, airport transit & final destination) the only information given is that a visa for Doha is not needed if the transit time is within 8 hours. There are NO specific requirements for children traveling under their mother's passport on the website. Also another great service Qatar Airways provides on their website is a 'visa & passport' page where again if the (nationality, airport transit & final destination) fields are entered the same search result as the above is given. Again, there are NO specific requirements for children traveling under their mother's passport. If after your investigation you decide to email Qatar Airways customer relations, think twice as the 5-star service is non-existence. Not once did I receive an email acknowledgement of my feedback and if your thinking of personally contacting them (speak to Jasmina) and she'll tell you she's investigating the incident and will get back to you. In fact no-one from customer relation has ever gotten back to me and instead it's me that's had to fork out the time and long distance calls. What I have failed to mention so far is that 2 days after my sister was due to fly out, Qatar Airways Rome office admitted fault and insisted my sister and family fly the following day. However return tickets with Emirates Airline had already been purchased and were non-refundable. What Qatar Airways Rome office did tell me was that the picture of my niece on her mother's passport is a requirement, but not by Doha International Airport, but the 5-star Airline itself who FAILED to mention the requirements on their website or links provided. Another thing I forgot to mention was that after my sister and her family were denied check-in, I contacted Qatar Airways ticketing number. I asked the
girl the passport requirements for children traveling under their mother's passport, and the only information she could give me was that a visa is not required if transiting in Doha and as far as the specific passport requirements, I was advised to contact Doha International Airport Immigration office. So my question Qatar Airways is, "what are the specific requirements for ITALIAN children traveling under their mother's passport?" AGAIN if your ITALIAN or even any nationality at all, think twice before booking tickets with the so-called 5-star QATAR AIRWAYS.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

The only inconvenience is the transit. Otherwise very good.

I flew Qatar Airways from Manchester - Doha - Hong Kong - Doha - London Gatwick. The major attraction was the price, closely followed by the reputation. Here i'll report back on whether the tag of 'the world's five star airline' is justified (in my own humble experience).

In short, the answer is not exactly. And here's why:

      ONLINE BOOKING / PHONE-LINE
      -----------------------------------------
Their website is simple and easy to use. It's good for combining legs and destinations, and for letting you see the least expensive dates to fly. Their phone line (in the UK) is less than helpful. I had a number of queries prior to flying and each time I phoned up I was told something different. Not only that, but several staff members were particularly rude, patronising and trying to make it out like I was being stupid, even though it turned out I was correct in questioning them.

      CHECK IN
      ------------
Usually quick and efficient. They seem to have a lot of staff waiting in attendance. Unlike other airlines, they are also ok with moving you into a business/first class queue if no one else is around. Hand baggage allowance is a little small though at 7kg. Compare this with Easyjet, which is 10kg!

      ON BOARD: CABIN CREW/SERVICE
      -------------------------------
Attentive and friendly. Smartly dressed, and always with a smile. In this respect, they are on a similar level to Singapore Airlines. Whether it's warm towels, sweets, menu's or flight kits, they are always offering you something to make the experience better.

      IN FLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT (A330)
      ----------------------------------
The control device was easy to use, and the choice of films, tv programmes, games and other devices was excellent.

      FOOD
      -------
Even in economy, the food is generally quite tasty and varied. My only critisism would be that they are trying a bit hard to be upmarket, and so it's often hard to know what you are eating.

      TRANSIT THROUGH DOHA
      --------------------------------
Not great. Flying time is also increased by going through Doha. A normal UK-Hong Kong flight takes 12-13 hours. Through Doha it is 15-16, not including transit time. This is annoying, but if like me you enjoy travelling, bareable. The airport isn't so great though. See my review on Doha Airport for more.

      OVERALL
      -----------
Not quite a 5 star airline, but not far off. Definitely superior to most European carriers, but the inevitable transit in Doha evens it out - not that it's their fault where they geographically originate from.

        Disadvantages

A good quality airline with good levels of comfort and service.

Qatar Airways are a Middle Eastern airline based in Doha in the United Arab Emirates. They are quite a new airline with a nice modern fleet of aircraft ranging from airbus to Boeing 777's and are officially ranked as a five star airline for quality, comfort and entertainment. They currently fly to 86 locations with new routes being added all the time and are linked to other airlines as part of a code share agreement with airlines such as Lufthansa, United and BMI who can take you on to other destinations. There are plans for further expansion and they have quite a few aircraft on order including five of the double decker airbus the A380's which are due for delivery in 2012.

They offer three levels of cabin, first class, business class and economy with a very competitive pricing structure. We chose to fly business class so I can only talk about the levels of service provided in business class however I am lead to believe from some family members that service is very good in economy too.

The booking process is fairly simple from the Qatar website which is set out quite nicely with lots of useful information. The website is easy to use and very user friendly with lots of interactive demos throughout the site showing you the levels of comfort available in the three classes of seats and cabins available.

You are asked to join their privilege club where you can build up points that can be used towards future flights or upgrades. It does not cost anything so why not join it at the beginning to count towards your future flights. I understand that people have been upgraded simply because they are members of the privilege club so it is well worth joining it.

My recent flight was booked between London Gatwick to Delhi via their hub in Doha which meant a two and a half hour stop over in Doha. At the time of booking you can pre-book your seats for all legs of your journey however this did not work out as well as I had expected. Having booked our seats 36 hours before the flight I received a text message and email advising me to check in online. When checking in I found that our pre-booked seats had changed and we had been allocated different seats on either side of the aircraft which I must admit I was a bit miffed about. We did however manage to book the seats together at this point only to find out that between checking in on line and arriving at the airport they had been changed yet again. The check-in staff were very accommodating and managed to book our seats together once again. For this I would have down rated the airlines booking system.

We were able to make use of the business class lounge at Gatwick airport and just prior to departure a member of Qatar airlines came to collect us and escorted us directly to the aircraft. The flight crew were waiting to greet us and take us to our seat where we were offered a pre flight drink, papers and orders taken for post take off drinks. We were given the menu to browse prior to them coming to take our orders for the meal.

The meal was served individually after they had laid the cloths and set up the table with linen. There were several choices of food available with different wines available all of a good standard. The food was nicely presented on good quality china with nice cutlery. There were several courses from an appetiser, starter entrée cheese board, dessert, fruit and coffee. Alcohol was freely available with a wide selection of wines and spirits.

I would like to say at this point that the cabin crew were exceptional and very professional. They were quite determined to make your flight experience as pleasurable as possible without being too invasive.

The in-flight entertainment system was brilliant with a selection of premier films, films you might have recently missed, classic movies, news channels, documentaries, travel channels, flight maps in various guises, children's films, games and a wide selection of music channels. You could start and stop fast forward or rewind the programmes should you wish to.

On arrival at Doha we got off the plane onto a waiting bus and driven to the terminal building if Doha is your final destination you get off at the first stop in the main terminal however if you had a connecting flight you must stay on the bus and taken to the business class terminal. The business class terminal was excellent. It is very big with a reasonable sized duty free shop. You take an escalator to the upstairs lounge which is absolutely massive with a large restaurant where you could order and dine before boarding the plane, bar and snack area and massive sitting lounge.

There are two smoking rooms, prayer rooms for male and female passengers. The toilet facilities are very tasteful and you can have a shower while you are waiting for your connecting flight. The lounge is extremely comfortable for a few hours layover however I could see that it might be uncomfortable had the stop over been for many hours. Two and a half hours stop over was just enough time to stretch your legs and prepare for the onward leg.

The onward flight to Delhi was similar although we took advantage of getting a couple of hours sleep before we landed. The cabin crew were taken aback that we did not want to eat and were quite insistent that we had something so I ordered a nice double espresso coffee to get me off to sleep this seemed to have pleased the crew and they left us alone after this.

On the return flight we flew into London Heathrow instead of Gatwick as there would have been a 19 hour layover in Doha. The flight was of a very high standard and very comfortable again.

My opinion of Qatar airways is very high in terms of comfort and the manner in which we were treated with the exception of the seat booking fiasco which I found rather bemusing. I would definitely use them again. They are indeed a five star airline.

The Qatar website can be found as follows.

Beware! - unless you have extra time and cash...

On Dec. 22 6:30am we checked in on flight 613 in Bangkok scheduled to fly out 8:15.
The plane was basically empty. We departed from the gate, got on the runway only to hear the captain say we were returning because of engine problems.

After a 3 hour wait they said the flight was being cancelled and we would return to the gate. In the terminal the attendants just kept insisting that the airline would address all our needs including connecting flights and travel.

By 2pm they finally got us to a hotel and we got a meal after a 6 hour wait (this would end up being our only meal in 12 hours). We sat a the hotel till 17:30 when they called us up and said we would return to the airport, where they would check us on the next Qatar flight at 8:30 pm. When we asked about what to do about our train tickets from Athens to Bulgaria which we would now miss, they said "all will be taken care of in Doha"

We arrive in Doha before midnight and now start dealing with managers who could care less about our problems. They insisted that their only obligations were to get us to Athens and we should be happy that they just get us there safe, no matter how late we arrive. We spoke to 3 managers. They all insisted there was nothing they could do but we could present our case in Athens to the Qatar staff. (They said they would send a report to them, but the staff in Athens said they never received anything. Somebody was lying...)

The following morning at 7:30 we depart for Athens and arrive in Greece now 20 hours late. On arrival we find we have no baggage. How much worse can it get?
When we explained our story to the Qatar staff, there they listened with empathy (for the first time). They tried to phone the train station about our train tickets but couldn't reach them so they encouraged us to go ourselves and try to get on the train, insisting that our tickets could still be valid. When we arrived at the station, surprise, surprise, there was a big sign saying due to the Christmas holidays all trains are sold out. As a matter of fact we couldn't reserve a seat until Dec. 29. Now we were stranded in Athens.

That evening we managed to book a flight to Sofia for Christmas morning.
The next day (24th) we returned to the airport to see if our bags had arrived, which they did, but one of them had holes in it from the trip. The Qatar staff said that this was normal and there is nothing they could do.

Now we had lost our patience with this airline. We finally arrived home 3 days late, lost our train tickets, had to buy another flight out of Athens and had a damaged bag. All this and the answers they kept giving us was, "Sorry, we wish we could help you but we can't!"

We have now sent a complaint to the airline (no reply yet), and also to several papers hoping that we can get some kind of justice.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Good airline

My mother and I were the second people to check in at Heathrow and requested seats together (after being told we could not pre-book them) however when we went to board we noticed we were at the other end of the plane from each other. The staff said there was nothing they could do, however we pointed out that as we were second to check in there was no reason why they could not have sat us together, luckily thy asked another passenger to move which they were happy to do, as I am a nervous flyer at the best of times!
This was the only glitch we had. The staff on board were friendly and helpful. There were plenty of TV programmes and films to watch. The food was good and I was impressed there was a choice of food and staff were happy to bring you drinks at any time. We had no delays on any of our flights. After research Qatar airways was the best value, although there were cheaper options when we took into account the length of the other stop overs and worse reviews for other airlines we decided on Qatar airways and we were not disappointed.
I know comments of Doha airport have generally been that it is poor but I was very impressed with it, this may have been more to do with the fact that when I had a stop-over in Doha in 1999 it was little more than one duty free shop and toilets that were a hole in the ground! We were there for just under 5 hours on the way out but they still ket us have the complimentry food, which although was very basic it was welcome after a long flight and stopover. They also had quiet, darkish rooms to relax in and free internet access.
Would definitely fly with them again.

            The 2 star Airline!

            Cabin Appearance: Clean Presentable

Service at departure airport: Regular with no glitches, infact extremely co-operative check-in staff who helped me get good seats and confirm my child's meal! Plus the staff at LHR also gave passengers with kids priority so we could get on board conveniently!

Seats: What you would expect in all economy classes so no different from any other, in fact maybe a bit worse.

Meals: Although they provided a menu card and asked to choose options beforehand, the trolley was already out of all chicken choices halfway down and the beef option as many fellow passengers complained was undercooked. Kid's meal was satisfactory with a healthy burger and some fries and one candy bar!

In flight entertainment: The options for kids were very few with only 7-8 options to choose from and each option lasting only 30 minutes! No educational channels or trips to the cockpit for the many children on vacation in-flight. In-flight Duty Free terribly expensive. The AVOD malfunctioned on a few seats while on the way back and hence had an extremely boring and hard to get through experience!

Cabin staff: Efficient and helpful on the way to LHR but the way back was pretty unsatisfactory and harrowing as no activity packs for kids were available, same choice of programs on the AVOD and so had to actually rummage through the hand luggage to find my little one stuff to do!!

Arrival services: Transfers of Qatar Airways are usually through Doha and the ground staff guide you but with no courtesy that a child is along. The wait at the Doha Airport was for 6 hours, minimum available and the dinner provided was as if in a school cafeteria with one apple, one slice of bread, one piece of chicken!!

An option I was keen on in the beginning but that completely changed on the way back with inefficient preparations of cabin crew whether it was with meals or for children on board and the totally exhausting wait at Doha the most unexciting and disorganized airport in the world!!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

A great flying experience weakened only by Doha Airport

My only flying experience with Qatar Airways was a very satisfactory one, and I would not hesitate in flying with them again.

Booking online was quick and easy; I found the best deal for flights using the handy '+/- 3 days' option, and paid just under £500 for return flights from Manchester to Singapore. At the time of booking, I also signed up for the Privilege Club; Qatar's loyalty system seemed to afford generous privileges after flying on just one flight (i.e. 10KG extra luggage allowance).

Check-in at Manchester was quick since I'd checked in online the night before; the whole process took little more than 3 minutes from start to finish. The check-in staff were pleasant and friendly, and I was starting to feel more confident that the 17-hour journey to Singapore might not be as painful as I'd predicted.

Arriving at Doha was the worst element of the entire flying experience; as other reviewers have noted, Doha airport is not good, and is ill equipped to cope with the number of passengers moving through the airport. The queue for immigration took the best part of 30 minutes and there seemed to be little organisation. Whilst not a fault of the airline as such, it is something to bare in mind when flying with Qatar, since all of their flights change in Doha.

The onward leg was similar to the first; the entertainment was good enough, the screens tired the eyes somewhat quickly, but the range of films/media on offer was good. The cabin crew were also attentive, although being used to easyJet/Ryanair, anyone that responds to a call button within 20 minutes seems attentive.

It was the return leg from Singapore to Manchester that I was most happy with after getting upgraded to Business Class; at this point I had the best flying experience I've had, managing to spend 6 hours asleep on a completely flat bed. I was upgraded on the basis of my 'Privilege Club membership', which I'd held for 5 months and 1-half of a return flight.

From start to finish I felt as though Qatar were attentive and efficient, and while I can understand other reviewers complaining about Doha airport, I saw no evidence of the poor-service and bad experiences that other reviewers hinted at. I'm not going to let other poor reviews put me off, and will definitely be flying with Qatar airways again in the future.

              Disadvantages

Amazing airline with friendly staff and great entertainment for all!

After reading so many negative reviews of Qatar Airways I felt compelled to write a decent review and stick up for them!

I flew with Qatar from London Heathrow to Doha and then onto Bangkok.

I had an amazing experience with them in economy.

              FOOD
I was surprised to be offered a choice of food for main courses, even for Breakfast! (maybe I'm just used to budget airlines!) Sometimes the choice was actually really hard to make, because both options sounded pretty good. Breakfast was really filling- a yoghurt, croissant with jam and butter, bread/bagel with cream cheese, main dish (crepes/frittata for my flight), water and a fruit salad. You also get a snack which is a sandwich and mine had beef in it. I didn't eat it because to be honest it didn't look that great, but hey, it was just the snack.

              STAFF
I always found staff super friendly and one even joked around with me a bit. They seem genuinely happy in their jobs. On the way back from Bangkok I was slightly overweight but the lady at the check in desk was perfectly patient and let me take things out of my hand luggage to put in my main bag, which was then overweight too but she didn't' say anything about that when she could easily have made me pay for it!

              SEATING & ENTERTAINMENT
I found the seats fine- leg room wasn't a problem for me. The main thing I loved about my flights with Qatar was the entertainment system they have going on. You can pick out of films, games, tv shows and music. Films- there are both old and new releases, foreign films, and films for children. There wasn't a huge selection of TV shows to watch on flights without touch screens, but on the touch screen ones you can even watch things like CSI which I enjoyed. I didn't play any games but there seemed to be a fair choice of things to play, and with regards to the music there were literally hundreds of artists from a huge range of genres to pick form. The thing I thought was really cool was that you can make playlists out of the music on offer, so if you don't have your MP3 player with you you can still just listen to music and chill out.

              OTHER
Another nice touch was the pack they give you after you first sit down. You get a pillow, blanket, and small bag with headphones, socks, ear plugs, toothbrush and toothpaste and an eye mask. I really thought that this was extremely thoughtful and also useful- it was nice to be able to freshen up in the bathroom on a long flight, and they give you everything you need to have a decent night's sleep!

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

Worst Airline i've ever flown with. I'd rather swim to Asia than fly with them again.

I took a flight with Qatar Airlines in early 2008 to Bangkok via Doha, and to put it bluntly, was the worst long haul flight I ever took!

Qatar is supposedly a five star airline. This is something I find perplexing as my experiences on the two flights I was unfortunate enough to take with them was less than five star!

The staff at the check-in desk at London Gatwick airport were very friendly and my first impressions were rather good.

That was until I boraded the aircraft and went to take my seat. I must say that on both flights I took, the first to Doha then the on the connecting flight to Bangkok, I felt like a sardine. It must be one of the worst airlines for leg room.
And to make matters worse my seat wouldn't recline fully and had a very uncomfortable 'bump' towards the bottom that dug into my back. Obviously someone had become frustrated with the rude air hostess on a previous flight and kicked the seat from behind in sheer frustration!
The cabin crew were pig ignorant from start to finish on both flights. I had to ask them several times for water and each time I asked I got the feeling I was an unwelcome guest! (Maybe they share there cabin crew with RyanAir!?)
The final straw was the inflight entertainment, or lack of! The screens were broken on both flights, so only a few people got the privilidge. And no one apologised for this, not a word. Just incredibly rude cabin crew who rolled there eyes because I dare to ask them for a water because I had a terrible headcahe by that point!

The transit point, Doha airport, is a poor airport, not even a bar where I could drown my sorrows and numb myself in preparation for the connecting flight to Bangkok! Luickily the transit time was quick and I only spent half an hour there before boarding the next flight begun.

All in all it was a terrible experience and Qatar are a terrible airline with virtually no good points to take from the experience. The flights aren't all that cheap either, and with new super-cheap budget airlines to compete with now I can't really see them surviving in the long term. You pay average prices for a very poor substandrad service.

1/5. Avoid them at all costs.

                  Disadvantages

                  Wouldn;t take Qatar Airways again!

When we were looking for a flight out to Asia last year, we decided to try Qatar Airways. We based our decision on the price and its claim for providing 5 star services. Finally, foolishly we thought, since Qatar come from the same region as Emirates ( we like Emirates as their quality of service is good) there shouldn't be a wide difference.

Well, our not so nice experience start from the time we booked our ticket through the Qatar website. The website is not user friendly and the prices change haphazardly. We keyed in our first booking and just before confirming our flight with credit card payment, we discover the need to make some changes. So we start the whole process of keying our requirements again with the same date, same flight and same time. We were shocked to find the price had increased by £50. As we need to go on that flight, we went ahead with our booking. After making the final confirmation with our credit card, a notification appear on the site and informed us that a confirmation email will be sent. The problem is the email address indicated was not the email address we gave. Luckily the email did come to us but it was really worrying. We wrote to the airline about the price change but had only received a confirmation email about our grievance and no further follow up.

There are definitely no five star services with Qatar Airways. The first leg from London to Doha was terrible. The food was lousy, it was not heated probably and it doesn't have a nice flavour. The presentation looks cheap and there isn;t a wide of selection of drinks either. The staffs weren't friendly and were only interested in chatting with each other. The second leg, from Doha to Singapore was much better though. The staffs were friendlier and they look more groomed too. They do move around to make sure that the passengers are comfortable. Food however remains bad.

After a bad start with Qatar Airways, we weren't looking forward to our returned journey. It went quite well without major hiccups, except the wait in Doha for our transfer was uncomfortable and tormenting. Perhaps it is because we no longer have any great expectation from the airline. We do know however that we will not be taking Qatar Airways again.

                    Avoid this airline.

Ref: Very bad experience with Qatar Airways

                    Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to advise users of your website never to fly on Qatar Airways.

I originally booked a flight to Delhi and back, one part of which Qatar Airways simply dropped a few days before I was due to fly out. They never contacted me about this as I only learned about it when I phoned their Gatwick number to enquire about an unrelated issue about the flights.

As a replacement flight to the one they dropped (Doha to Gatwick), they put in place a flight that was supposed to fly out 11 hours later than the one originally scheduled. The result being that when I landed in Doha, I was denied a hotel room and had to contend with the dreadful food they give to passengers awaiting transfer in the Doha airport. The reason they gave for this is that the original booking I made never included a hotel room as the original transfer time in Doha was less that 8 hours. However, they, out-of-the-blue, canceled this flight and scheduled another one that was 19 hours after I landed in Doha, way over the 8 hours cut-off-point for a hotel. I tried enquiring about paying for a hotel out of my own pocket, but I was again even denied this information.

The upshot of all this is that I was forced to spend 19 hours staring like a mad thing at the floor of an airport terminal.

I had flown Qatar before this and thought their service was good. However, I, along with numerous friends, work colleagues and relatives to whom I have explained what happened to me, will not use this company ever again after the kind of appalling service I was subjected to. I hope you will agree and that your users should review any flight arrangements they have made now and in the future with this company based on my experience.

In short, stay well clear of this "airline".

                    Thanking you,

                    Kind regards,

                    Mike Garvin,
                    mgacourt@netscape.net

DO NOT FLY QATAR AIR, THIRD WORLD AIRLINE

myself had an terrible experience on several occasions with them. The staff cant speak English, is rude, the Doha airport is a nightmare. Its not at all equipped to handle the volume of people and the queue was almost one hour for us as we landed in Doha together with many other flights as most were in transit to other destinations and they made us go through security again, which is fine, but only 2 lines open for one thousand people trying to make connecting flight. I missed my flight and they made me pay extra to board the next flight. By the time I paid at the ticket sales office with 50 minutes to go before departure, they would not allow me to check in on to the next flight saying all check ins are closed 1 hour prior to departure. I will my 4 small kids wasted 5 hours at the airport. And by the way, if you book on Qatar air and get an electronic ticket, you better show up with your credit card number used to purchase the tickets or they wont be able to give you a boarding pass even if you have a record locator and a copy of your itinerary. Since I cancelled my credit card due to fraud alert, I did not have the old account number with, they would not allow me to check in and turned us away again. Luckily my wife had a receipt of a previous charge on her with the old credit card account number, otherwise we would have been stuck indefinitely or had to purchase ne tickets. Qatar Air Sucks also charges you for any luggage checked in which is in over 20 kilos and the fees are hefty. On my flight from Doha to Male they want 66 Riyals or $15 US dollars for each kilo. It would have cost me more to check my luggage in then to buy the tickets and the airport has no storage facilities, so we had to turn around and go back to our hotel in Doha and leave some luggage behind. Its a nightmare airline, stay away from them. Who gave them the 5 star rating, they did themselves. I fly all over the world and have flown countless airlines and I never had as much trouble as I did on Qatar Air Sucks. If you want to miss your flight, pay exorbitant fees for access luggage and deal with indifferent staff that does not speak English, fly Qatar Air Sucks. Also, the economy seats on the new 777-200LR are so tight, my knees we up my throat and if the person in front of you decides to recline their seat, forget it. then, to top it off, we arrive in Male Maldives and they lost our luggage in Doha. I can go on and on and on about Qatar Air Sucks. Save yourself the trouble, take another airline. They are no where near 5 star. They are a 1 star airline and struggling at that. If you want a nightmare experience, take Qatar Air Sucks. Never again will I take that airline. I would rather have 2 connecting flight on another airline then fly through Doha or on Qatar Air. Six flights with them and they were all a disaster. And here is one to top it off. Our flight from Dubai to Doha the pilot decides to go through a thunderstorm and our plane got hit by lightning. I with my wife and 4 kids thought were were doomed. We heard a very loud pop, the floor was shaking and the pilot never came on the PA to say anything. We did not know if a bomb went off or what happened. Passengers were alarmed and afraid and nobody told us anything. Happy flying Qatar Air Sucks.
