Amazing Airline, bad Airport. (Qatar Airways)

Disadvantages: Doha Airport is like hell on earth

It has become widely known that Qatar airways is considered one of only a few 5-star airlines by skytrax and it's adverts that come on before the weather on Sky News certainly hint at luxury. I have flown with Qatar airways a few times, so I will comment on how it actually is.
To be honest, it's pretty good. The food is nice, the staff on board and at the airport are friendly and the tickets are often the best option in terms of price. The pilots are good and landings are always smooth and I have experienced very few problems with delays etc. Qatar airways has a very good safety record and now flies to most places worldwide via its hub in the Qatari capital Doha. It is constantly upgrading its fleet and its order of A380s proves that it wants to be right up there at the top with the big boys.
The problem with Qatar airways is an indirect one. Doha airport is absoloutely appauling. There is nothing to do there, it is absoloutely tiny so usually completely packed and there are probably about six seats in the entire building. There is a 20 minute long queue for the toilets and staff are (though I don't blame them) up to their eyeballs in stress. This problem should however fizzle out when the new airport in Doha opens in late 09/early 10.
Definately wouldn't hesistate to travel with Qatar airways, a very pleasant experience - just watch out for long waits in Doha!
